A benefit requires a lot of planning but can be done if you're willing to put the time in. There are a lot of ways to raise money for something like this. I did a raffle for a friend who's baby was born with hydrocephalus. I raffled some Beanie Babies and went around town to sell tickets and I raised quite a bit. I made the tickets on the computer and had someone else draw the winning ticket. It was easy but if you want to do something larger you will need a place to hold the benefit and will need to get some donations of at least some of the items you'll need. It all depends how big you're thinking.

1) Put together a committee of at least 3 people to assist you - the bigger the benefit the more assistance you will need. Make sure you have a committee chairperson (e.g. you) - someone in charge of the committee. But, also be sure to include everyone's ideas so the committee 'belongs' to all members.

2) Hold meetings with your committee to set goals for the benefit.
a) date of the benefit
b) type of benefit
c) fund raising targets, etc.

3) Design and implement the programs needed to meet the goals you set.
a) Donations
b) Facility/location
c) Marketing
d) Bank account
e) Necessary 'manpower', etc.

Best wishes and good luck.
