The stuff is shish kabob which is a type of food consisting of small chunks of meat, poultry, or fish combined with vegetables which are placed onto skewers or grilling baskets and then grilled or broiled. Several Turkish words were the origin of the term Shish Kabob, using the word "sis" meaning skewer and "kebap" meaning roasted meat to create the term that is commonly used to refer to this food dish. The two words are often shortened to only Kabob or Kebab when referreing to this preparation of skewered meat. The meat for the Shish Kebob may be marinated prior to cooking and then pushed onto the skewers or placed into the grill basket, alternating the cubes of meat with pieces of vegetables, such as bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes.

I think you are referring to shish kabob. Kabob is the generic for goodies on a stick or metal rod. In Greece it would be souvlaki, Turkey would use kebap, There are many other names around the globe but basically it is stuff on a stick (frequently marinated first) cooked rapidly over a hot fire.

Be sure to soak the sticks in water or they will burn!

It's spelled shishkabob, and yes, it's meat and veggies grilled on a stick. You can use metal sticks or wood (if wood, get them wet first or they'll burn up). Enjoy :)
