I have a friend who refuses to tell me about her current man. She says its a secret and not even her parents know (not because she isn't old enough , as she is 24) or her best friends. Her answer is 'so we dont have to answer any questions, its more fun this way'. she used to date a guy, but they broke up and then she was sleeping with him behind his new girl friends back, but she says its not him. Im not so sure, i just can't understand why the big secret. What do you reckon might be the reason for this? She is going away for a number weeks on the job so doesn't know if itll be 'on' when she gets back. but i dont see how that is reason enough for all the secrecy. what do you think?

Could be any number of reasons...perhaps he is involved with someone else and they are keeping it on the sly...perhaps he's of a race/size/religion/etc that she feels others would either disapprove of or question a lot so she's keeping it on the low until they see where things are going to go...or maybe there's nothing special about it at all and she's just playing a game to amuse herself and see how many of her friends it bugs that she won't tell 'em who it is...

Either two things are going on, shes messing with the guy that has a girl and doesnt want to be looked at like a whore. OR she just isnt sure about this guy and doesnt want to blow him up yet. OOO or hes hideous and doesnt want anyone to know she would date him. I knew this girl that was like that she was only dating this guy for his money and we found out what he looked like by accident and she was so upset.
Either way just let her do what she wants and when shes ready she'll tell you.

If she is your friend you should respect her privacy and stop digging for her truth. When the time is right she will let you know about him. If she's doing something wrong, it will end eventually or maybe she's just giving the relationship time to grow before she exposes it to her friends and family for criticism. Good luck!

maybe she's wanting to see where the relationship goes before she tells anyone about it. i am 24 and my parents didn't know about my guy until like a month later...i just wanted to make sure that it would last.

she might be trying to hide something gross about this guy. Maybe he is way older than she is. She must not be much of a friend if she has to keep a secret from you.
