Does anyone know the meaning and/or origin of the name Euzela or Uzela (eu-zee-la)? I had a great-aunt born in the early 1900s named this and would like to name my new baby after her. I have seen it spelled both ways.

Eu-zela is Greek.

"Eu" is good. "Zela" from "Zelos" is eager for or striving after or emulating. (Think of "zeal", "zealous", "zealot").

So Euzela would either be "she who emulates or strives after the good" or "she who strives or emulates well".

Wow-- I cant find anything on those names at any baby name sites.

But it is a unique and individual name, ill give you that, and thats haf the fun right? I doubt she'll ever know anyone with the same name as her and its not a bad name either. I think its a good name if thats what you want to name your daughter.
