Two factors that control the properties of a mineral?

im not looking for the properites of a mineral like streak or cleavage. im looking for the factors that controls those things ofa mineral.

I think the composition is important. And the tectonic (all the events like pressure, movement, bending etc.) since the formation untill the present gives some properties to a mineral (like preferential direction of cleavage).
