If it were an accident, it would be illegal. It is not illegal to leave the scene of a fake. If it were, we would all have died sitting around in theatres. Since you were trying either insurance fraud or extortion, you are the one who would be facing charges.

Leaving the scene of an accident is a huge deal and the penalty can be cancellation of driving privileges and serious fines. But, idiots that fake injuries are also illegal and prosecutable in court. This is exactly why insurance rates are so high.

Leaving an accident scene is illegal but so is insurance fraud which means deliberately causing an accident or faking injury to get money.

Leaving the scene is illegal, but this driver didn't leave the scene of anything (except an attempt at insurance fraud).

Yes leaving the scene is illegal but so is falsifying a claim. An even worse crime.

My mother always told me that if you hit someone you might as well kill them because dead people can't sue you and take everything you own.

So if you faked me hitting you I would have no choice but to drive over you again and again until I finish the job.

Not if they didn't hit you, which they probably should have by the sound of your stupidity... Why would you even do that? That is the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time...
