My dog has been shedding a lot for the past few weeks. I assume it is just because of the seasons changing. No this is not a life or death question but more of a curious question. And does anyone have any shedding remedies? I use the firminator brush and shed-X which is put into his food.

I've never found there is much you can do to speed up the process, although some people claim baths can help. As to the frequency, it depends. A number of situations can increase shedding such as stress, diet and going into heat or pregnancy. Indoor dogs also shed a bit less predictably than those consistently kept outdoors. However, shedding is generally in the Spring and early Summer. Some increased shedding isn't uncommon in the Fall, but fear not -- the winter coat will grow in.

Springtime can be a very heavy shedding time of year. The best thing to do is brush, brush brush. I like to use a couple of tools that help remove undercoat. One is called a Mars Coat King which is very effective at removing the undercoat that sheds so heavily this time of year. There are different blade types and numbers depending on the breed of dog. Very useful tool. Also good for longer haired dogs is a rake which can be purchased at most pet stores. I bought my Mars Coat King online.

she is blowing her coat for summer time! They shed the most this time of year. Brush her every day and I think they have special shampoo. Also, there is a pill you can get from the vet.

They sehd most when winter is ending and spring is coming because they hold their hair to be warm during the winter and when spring comes it heats up they they want that extra hair gone. Theres no home remedies i can tell you that much all i can say is take your dog outside when it gets warm enough and brush him like mad.

SOMETIMES THEY SHED BECAUSE OF THEIR HEALTH. SOMETIMES THEY'RE NOT GETTING ENOUGH PROTEINS AND NUTRITION. OR SOMETIMES SOME DOGS WITH ALOT OF FUR THEY MIGHT START SHEDDING.
