Does anyone have a good smoothie recipe that I can make without milk (we're out!) and preferably without fresh fruit. All I have in that department is semi-old bananas and clementines. Though I do have orange juice concentrate and sherbert. Thanks you guys!

Need fresh fruit or veg to make smoothies....I would drink the juice, eat the banana's and chuck the sherbert in the bin.

you may be SOL at the moment with the paltry selection you currently have on hand but next time you go shopping you can prepare for future smoothie emergencies. This is a recipe I picked up in a fruit stand in Oaxaca Mexico which I have adapted. I make it more like a milkshake by freezing the fruit and I added soft tofu to add some protein but that can easily be left out if you aren't a fan.

1 papaya
1 cantalope
a bunch of bananas

Cut up the papaya and cantalope into smallish peices. put about 1/2 cup of each into a small baggie (make it even so if it is a big cantalope make it 2/3 c of that and 1/3 papaya, just end up with both in each bag) Add half a peeled banana to each baggie. sprinkle in a dash of cinnamon and a splash of vanilla. Add a spoonful of soft tofu if you want it in there. Close all of the baggies and put them all in a bigger freezer bag and stuff it into your freezer. Then you will have about 10-15 portions of fruit for smooties. Just rip open a bag, throw it in the blender (still frozen) add a cup or so of milk and blend it until it is all milkshakey goodness. Add more milk if it is too thick for you. And just to be way ahead of the curve you can buy some tetrapak milk so you will have that on hand too.
