I would cut it about ear length and then gel it

hey! i had the same problem until i purchased a drawstring hair piece or a 3/4 hair pice its so easy to twist into a french roll or for a more funky style like today i had a nice messy bun to one side with a long swooping fringe!

I would put it up in a clip with a twist and with the hair that is sticking out of the clip use a little gel to spike it a little.

leave the front part of your hair down and put the back in a pony tail or clip...very punk.
