undecided on which colors to choose from for our wedding in august! there are so many colors out there
i really like wild orchid(which is a purplish/pink) we are thinking of that as our primary color-butwe are un sure of what to have as an accent color or a secondary color-we do have some colors in mind like silver and iceblue-but not 100% sure if we want to go with those!! if anyone has any opinions on colors that would go well with the color wild orchid-or even if you have an idea of different colors that would go well in august as long as it isn't brown- we open to any suggestions-even if you might have some ideas of flowers for boquets as well!!
thanks to all who answer!!

Well, you need to think of the season. You'll be married in August so that would be late summer, early fall colors and dont limit yourself to orange. I like that Wild Orchid color you mentioned. You can easily use that color next to a yellow, burnt orange, beige, champaigne color, etc. Here are some samples of the kind of bouquets and dresses that I think would look good for an August wedding.

This would be a nice flower: http://www.organicbouquet.com/Images/Kickers/HomePage/Fall-Gerberas.jpg

Stay away from wild Orchid and iceblue. Both a nice colour but together they dont do anything good.Here are some ideas

Wild Orchid- Silver (Very nice, the wild orchid will pop while the silver will calm it down just the right amount)
Wild Orchid- Deep Gold (Have a shiny deep gold, but must have sparkle, this will also highligh the prime colour)
Dark navy blue- silver
Dark navy blue- white
Dark red- dark green
Dark red- light yellow
Light yellow- dark brown

The first colours on each line will be the main primary colour, have the next colour just to highlight the prime colour.My favorite is the first one with Wild orchid with silver. Have the girls wearing orchid with a silver ribbon around their waste, have ribbon around the flowers they are carrying and have the flowers wild orchid with a hint of silverly sparkly.
Congrats

the ice blue and silver don't have much contrast so i don't think that's a good idea, but maybe a darker blue like cerulean
http://www.fermatainc.com/images/cerulean_warbler.jpg
it's a bird yes, but i think it's a really pretty color that would be a great color for a wedding
with the orchid i think that silver or white would work well there's contrast and it's great for a wedding
see how it works in this picture?
http://www.wickfordorchids.com/orchids_stem_propogations/orchid_image_Dtps_Sogo_Lit-Sunny_Bedford_Pinkie.jpg
or what else you could do is just do a random search engine for pictures but search for a color than you'll see how the colors look before you have to buy them
i don't recommend red or pink because i think that's overdoing it i mean it's a wedding, we already know you love each other otherwise this wouldn't be happening
try minty green with white, green makes you feel safe and secure and time seems to go by faster
http://www.jillybeads.co.uk/acatalog/CzMix_minty_green.jpg
this^ is a good example of the green i mean
or you could have three colors, the three you could use are these:
mint green, ice blue, white/ silver
mint green, cerulean, white/ silver
ice blue, orchid, white/ silver
ice blue, cerulean, white/ silver
cerulean orchid, white/ silver
flower choices and meanings
asters=charming, patient
bells of ireland=good luck and whimsy
carnations=fascination, devoted love
Chrysanthemum=cheerfullness, innocence
Dahlias=dignity, elegance
the rest of the flowers are here

i thought you should know the meanings because it says something about your marriage oh and white roses mean marriage so have that lying around somewhere
hope your wedding look fabulous!!!

actually you are on the right track with the blue but maybe a turquoise or robins egg with the wild orchid i would also add a rich pink color to compliment the wild orchid and blue. Those are beautiful vibrant colors or just go with the wild orchid and silver maybe with a bit of dove grey (lt grey) as too much silver can sometimes be a little garish maybe use that for a daytime and use a metallic grey(davids bridal calls it platinum I think) for later afternoon/evening

Keep in mind that the most memorable thing about your wedding for years to come will be your photographs. If you are going to do outdoor photography, think about where your pictures will be. For instance, if you choose a spring green and it's spring outside, the dresses won't stand out against the background of new leaves.

Also, since you aren't going to be wearing the colors, think about the complexion of your bridesmaids. If you have very pale bridesmaids, don't choose a color that will make them look washed out (for their sake and yours!).

And keep in mind the colors of your wedding site and reception hall. If they have orange carpet (which is a travesty in itself) and you choose orchid dresses, that contrast will be mindboggling for the guests for the evening.

I had a June wedding and went with a rose red. We had outdoor photographs and the red stood out great against the bright green leaves and grass. If you're having an August wedding, the leaves shouldn't be changing quite yet and the weather will still be pretty summery, so you can basically choose the season you want to emphasize and go with that throughout the whole "theme."

Definitely check and see what colors go with the venue/church you're having the wedding at. You don't want your colors to clash with the surroundings (esp if you do things like don't cover chairs). Also if you're having a summer weddings like colors might be better. We were thinking of silver as well, but then realized that it would actually be grey, when we're talking about actual fabric. Also if you have a preference in flowers you should see what colors your flowers come in. Or vice versa, a preference in flower colors, what flowers come in it.

The ice blue with your wild orchid sounds hideous. I like the silver idea. That sounds really pretty. How about gold, do you like that or not.

In the bouquets they could put silver sprays of artificial filler in. That would look really pretty with some wild orchids!

go with the colors in the flower! wild orchids have the puple/pink/fushia color and then yellow or orange centers and green which would cool it down a bit- i say what works in nature works in weddings! plus they're good summery colors!
I'm doing purple and green for my June wedding.
the purple and blue could look nice too - i'm thinking of hydrangeas nice shades of both and all mixed in together!

Get a few bridal guide magazines as they are packed with color ideas and schemes. Stick to the basics, remember what colors will look best on your bridesmaids and don't get complicated. It's your day and you don't want the colors of the rainbow to outshine your beauty.
