Hey I really need help on how to present this to the police.

I had a roomate in our apt, and eventually we couldnt handle rent so we let one of our friends stay there for a month or two, the second roomate eventually got in a fight with the first roomate and when he left he stole my 42" plasma, which he sold to another kids mom, he stole all my valuables such as watches etc and kept a box with all of my reciepts, checks, signatures, etc in there.

Its been about 1 month and I cant track down this kid. I know someone who says they think they know where he is staying.
He did this because he is a meth addict it turns out and he also has at least 1 warrant out for him and he is out on bail right now.
When I file the police report what should I do? I am going to get the address of the house where he is supposedly at, where he lives with another tweaker, I am going to bring reciepts from at least the plasma TV and the xbox 360. What to do to make sure he gets in trouble at the least.

"Why do you hesitate? Are you telling us the entire story? "

I dont hesitate its just that in my experience the police never actually do anything when these reports are made, im wondering if telling the cops is even worth it? I want to just go show up to his door and beat his a*s but I am joining the army in less than a week and I cant have ANYTHING on my record. Its just got me split.

You can file a police report, but as he was your roommate and the incident occurred over a month ago, they are not likely going to do anything...they will just give you a control number to file with your insurance company and tell you it is a civil matter and you can file a suit in Small Claims Court. If he doesn't have a legit job or own any real estate you could attach to, then even if you win, just have an unenforceable Judgment.

As he could use your identity, take the steps necessary to protect yourself from identity theft...see this site for details.

To get him in trouble for the meth, call Crime Stoppers in your local area...if they are already looking for him in another matter, there might possibly be a reward, which is likely your ownly chance of recouping your losses.

The smart thing to do would be file the police report soon and then call the bank report your check stolen and change your account number to prevent him from using it and then flag your credit report so that way if he try and use your information for anything else but don't wait act now before it to late Good luck and sorry that had to happened.

Present it to the police honestly and with total candor. Don't try to make a presentation. It's not show business.

Go for it.

File the theft charges with the police, and that is about the extent of what you can do legally. If he is caught, you will be notified as to the date of the trial, and when you are to appear.

save your empty tampon boxes and conceal rest room paper in them. Ask your pals for their empty boxes so which you have some precise away. he's a guy, so with a bit of luck he should not be digging on your tampon boxes.

Is there a reward for bringing him in yourself?
