Okay, first off, some background info.

Back in January (to be specific, the week of the 14th), I asked a girl "out". She has made the answer, "no", clear, and, since I asked her and told some of my trusted friends that I know did not tell anyone, both she and I have been at the butt end of endless jokes and comments from classmates. So, here's the question: should I apologize and tell her that, through action and inaction, that I've put her through all this, or just let it be and hope that said classmates eventually stop? (Remember that I'm not trying to get her to like me again through doing this)

Don't apologize. That will just make everything worse and more awkward. Besides, what could you say? "Yeah sorry, I SWEAR I didn't tell my friends and sorry we had to be the butt of all the jokes!" That just sounds like a lie and very awkward. I think if you don't let it bother you, your classmates will get bored with making a joke that doesn't affect either of you and they will most likely stop unless they are really THAT immature, then they should be the ones apologizing.

Good lucK! ;-)

Be the bigger person and change the subject, walk away, or whatever you have to do to let your friends know that it was a simple "question/answer" situation, and that you're certainly not wasting any more brain power on it.

As for her, just leave her alone, and she'll rest easy knowing you're not trying to manipulate the situation.

You shouldn't have to apologize for the actions of others.

It'll take time to blow over, so be patient. Hope this helps!

Well obviously someone told. If she said then she had her reaons and that's the end of it. I dont see why you have to apologize to her since you didnt do anything to her. Just let it go, once your classmates find someone else to make fun off (that's the cruel reality in school) they will drop your subject and eventually forget.

Why are you the butt of jokes for asking a girl out? You didn't do anything wrong, so no need to apologize.

If you are not trying to get her to like you again dont worry about it leave her the hell alone unless it makes you feel better to appologize. A new topic will come up soon for your classmates to laugh about.

seeing as aren't trying to make her like you, i think you shouldn't apologize. why bother? it'll eventually blow over and no one will remember it. some girl will have done this with this guy and her friend did this...you'll be old news.

however, if you do apoligize, do it quickly & don't beat around the bush. she probably doesn't enjoy this very much, and if you talk to her for too long, she might do something drastic.

good luck...either way, this will blow over and every one will forget about it. ;-)

You didn't do anything to apologize for. Just hang in there; grin and bear it! And your classmates need to grow up a little, it sounds like...

I don't completely understand your situation here....was it because of you she's the butt end of every joke? Well, if thats the case, then you are better off telling her, clear your mind of any guilty feelings. If not, then don't worry about it, its not your fault

Well I do not understand why everyone is bugging you about this. I mean doesnt that happen everyday? It will die down but I guess I would have a talk with her. Its not that you want her to like you but you dont want her to feel you spoke against her because you were rejected either.

I think silence would be golden. Women have a strange irrational way of thinking sometimes. She could actually think you put your classmates up to it so that you could be her knight in shining armor. If you silent, she may think you are a victim of the bs too. Just my 0.02 cents.
