Depends where you live. In the area where I live in Ontario, we are into recycling and composting HEAVY DUTY. Partial cans of paint are dropped off at any local dump site, and are kept for a certain period of time to see if anyone else want them for free. After that, they are disposed of along with other hazardous materials like batteries.

It's still good; strain the paint through pantyhose (to catch any hardened/dried bits) and re-use. Do NOT throw it out or pour it down a drain; call your local refuse collection agency and ask about places that recycle old paint.

I love old cans of paint. I use it to paint huge floor cloths ...furniture...papermache (I don't toss much paper either).

Take them to a hazardous waste collector, do not put them in the trash. If you don't know where your nearest hazardous waste collector is, call your garbage company.

you can take them to lowes or the home depot and tell them they are old. they will dispose of them for you. Or you can keep the cans in a closet, basement, or attic.
