You can find skinless sausages in a wide variety of flavors in your local grocery. I happen to like some with skins and some without. It's just personal choice, and you need not be embarrassed if you choose to buy sausage and remove the skin (casing) once you get it home. If I want a hot sausage sandwich, that's what I do - take nice hot Italian sausage out of the casing, cook it up in a skillet with the sliced onions and sliced peppers and then slap the whole mess on a warmed hamburger bun!

I don't think so. The skin is necessary to keep the flavour in the sausages. Otherwise they have to add some chemical to the contents of the sausages to keep them in shape when they are being cooked. We are trying to keep thing simple, aren't we? For the benefit of one of the earlier contributers, the skin, in the olden days, used to be made from the intestines (guts) of pigs or lambs. Nowadays, some of the sausages contain synthetic sausage casing and some man made but using organic (i.e. chemically processing some organic material) casing. And some of the sausages are skinless! If I have to eat sausages, I prefer them with organic or natural casing. I hope this is helpful.

You have been able to get skinless bangers for years...but why disturb a good thing, British and Irish Bangers are the best in the world you can`t touch them in America or Canada they don`t have a clue,Tasmania comes close on the Northwest coast but the art of UK butchery is unfortunately becoming extinct.

I gew up in the UK, you used to have achoice skinless or skinned. The skinned was not hte thick tough skins they have today. The skins turned kind of crispy. The skins they have today are like plastic. I agree I don;t like them and they woudl be nicer without. I think skins like that prevent hte sausage from cooking properly somoehow.

Yes, the trouble is the skin stops the meat from falling apart, unless you use pastry instead, aka sausage roll.

I'm sure the sausage makers would love to cut out that extra cost, and they'll do it as soon as you tell them how to make sausages without them.

The skin is what holds the bits of meat, hair, hoof, fat and bone together until the gelatin holds it firm.

The skin on the sausages have flavor and if you take the skin off of the sausages, you are taking away a lot of flavor, so please leave the skin on.
