AS A HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL, IT IS MY LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO SEEK AND FOLLOW YOUR DOCTORS INSTRUCTIONS. AND MINE IS ONLY AN EXPERIENCED STATEMENT. WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IS WHAT IS CALLED THE DIFFERENTIAL COUNT ON A COMPLETE BLOOD COUNT, (MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AS A CBC), AND WITHOUT KNOWING MORE OF YOUR DAUGHTERS SYMPTOMS, A HIGH LYMPHOCYTE COUNT CAN BE CAUSED BY NUMEROUS THINGS (I KNOW, JUST MUMBO-JUMBO THAT MEANS BUG TO THE LAY PERSON). BUT THE FIRST TO SAY IS STRESS CAN CAUSE THE LYMPHS TO GO UP. ALSO, EARLY IN AN INFECTION, THE LYMPHS WILL RISE THEN THE SEGS WILL RISE AND LYMPHS GO DOWN TO SHOW A BACTERIAL INFECTION, AND A VIRUS WILL CAUSE THE LYMPHS TO GO UP. THERE ARE MANY MORE REASONS BUT WITH THE MOST OF MY EXPERIENCE IN THE ER AND HEARING DOCTORS TALK TO PATIENTS ABOUT LAB RESULTS, YOUR LITTLE ONE MAY HAVE A VIRAL INFECTION IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER SYMPTOMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CBC RESULTS, LIKE A FEVER, CHILLS, SORE THROAT, BELLY PAIN, EAR ACHE OR A HOST OF OTHER COMPLAINTS. BEST THING TO DO IS TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR, HE CAN EXPLAIN MUCH BETTER AND IN SIMPLER TERMS. ALSO THE NORMAL COUNT IS ABOUT 60-70 SEGS AND 30-35 LYMPHS.

if the neutrophil is low and the lymphocyte count is high then the WBC count should be very low, therefore this could suggest viral infection. maybe your daughter has a fever of viral origin or has asthma as the underlying cause. i need to see the complete blood count result. pls email me.
