Nowhere in the Christian Bible does it say "hate the sin, love the sinner", nowhere. Nor does it say obesity is a sin, so it seems your following false preachings. Jesus, by his actions and words, teaches the reward for loving yet you follow the anti-christs reasonings because with him you can hate. Why would Jesus teach love for ones enemies if it was going to be ok to hate those who lived a different lifestyle?

There are multiple instances in the Bible where homosexuality is clearly outlined as a sin. Worthy of Hell for eternity.

Go to Jail, do not pass GO, and do not collect $200.

Do you understand that? Or are you just another lunch counter Christian who worships a God of your own making, and accuses people who have different views than you do in regard to His will of doing the exact same thing that you are doing (ie: picking and choosing which parts of the Bible to believe in and which not) ?

@the other poster who called ignorance a sin: Arrogance is the biggest sin of all. Not ignorance. Jesus could deal with stupidity, but you and I BOTH know He couldn't deal with prideful and self-righteous behavior -- since He kept ripping the Pharisees new ones.

And every Christian should know that Lucifer was tossed out of Heaven for his arrogance.

@cheryl: Way to be a Christian. "Could have hit him" ... what a *snicker*masterful job of proving your faith. See above.

Preachers need to preach against it because modern society is preaching that its ok. Just like modern society preaches its ok for abortion, we know its wrong. Also some people believe that if your life is in danger its ok to kill someone. Its not...its still a sin...even if someone is trying to kill your loved one...if you kill them first, you sinned! Modern society is trying to warp our views of what is right and wrong. If everyone followed the teachings of the bible, do you really think there would be wars, poverty or hate? Yet society in their infinate wisdom is going against the teachings of Christ. Thinking they are making a better world, but they are not. Why else is america the richest yet unhappiest country out there.

Gay people do get judged harsher than anyone else even though they are no better or worse than anyone else! Many of these Christians do not even judge their OWN shortcomings with the same zeal as they do gay people. Not only that, gay people are the only group of people towards whom many of these Christian churches will openly spread intolerance. They are too chicken and concerned about public opinion to go after all the other kinds of sin in their belief system because it will make them look hateful or be unpopular. You don’t see them trying to hassle overweight people who got that way from gluttony. There are even overweight pastors and reverends! Not only do all gluttons go to hell according to the bible but obesity kills millions a year and unlike sexual orientation which may have deep psychological and even biological roots, stuffing your face and being a lazy slob is a lifestyle choice. Millions die from being obese! Children who are obese have serious health risks! Obese people hinder our nation's productivity and health care costs. Personally I think it is a far greater moral concern than who Ellen loves and wants to spend her life with.

Yet we pick on gays because:

(1) It is much easier to point out other people's sins than to look to your own and gay people are an easy target as their point of difference is sexual which plays nicely into all kinds of prejudices and hangups we have.

(2) If Christians were to really get serious about all the things that are considered sins in the bible, including gluttony and laziness or sloth (which leads to obesity), it would alienate a LARGE number of people. Gay people are a minority. Fat people are a majority. So too are people who tell white lies, gossip and break all the HUNDREDS of rules in Leviticus. It is IMPOSSSIBLE not to sin, if you are going strictly by the bible because almost EVERYTHING is a sin in bible. That is why Christians have to ask for forgiveness EVERY SINGLE DAY or go to confession regularly if they are Catholic. Even St. Paul said it was impossible not to sin and called himself a wretched and miserable man because he cannot stop sinning no matter how hard he tries! Go read Romans 7:15
to 25.

(3) Some Christians forget that if you judge others, every single flaw will be held against you by God when YOUR turn comes. Matt 7:1-2 says “Judge not that ye may not be judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”

So I hope those who judge and discriminate are prepared for the same unforgiving, merciless, intolerant treatment from God when it’s time to stand naked under his magnifying glass. I would imagine that if you are truly a smart Christian you would do better to assume God will accept everyone and err on the side of understanding and tolerance just to be sure. Especially since I never read of Jesus turning away anyone because they were gay or asking if they were gay first before feeding or healing them. Do you? I've never seen in years of bible reading anything about Jesus commanding his followers to be the bedroom monitors and sexual-position dictators of society. The greatest commandment he imposed upon people was, ‘Love God with your whole heart, mind and soul and love your neighbour as yourself.” He even said that this commandment reigns supreme over ALL THE OTHERS and fulfils the entire Law.

i'm happy I gave up faith you people spend thank you to lots time on BS I mistrust those people who comprehend so nicely what God needs them to do because of the fact I word it constantly coincides with their very very own needs. -- Susan B Anthony. In 1896, Susan B Anthony stepped down from the chair and addressed the national-American woman Suffrage affiliation assembly while a decision became provided to repudiate Elizabeth Cady Stanton's woman's Bible. Aunt Susan's impassioned charm became directed greater at non secular freedom and the rights of persons.

Before you say Obesity is a sin....here are a few facts on being obese...not all of the fanfare about this problem is sin. Some people have genetic traits that help them become this way. This does not mean that they are not trying to help themselves and with their doctors supervision. I know of people who have health concerns that can cause them to gain weight because of the medication they are on and there may not be any other choices to help the issue.

Now for the homosexuality business. In the Bible it says in Genesis that God did not like the foulness of the way the cities of Sodom and Gammorah were because of the humans there with their acts. Why do you think those cities were destroyed with Fire and Brimstone? Even in later books, this lifestyle is not found to be in the eyes of God as good. But before you call me judging of others think about the reasons God is against this act himself. I do not like that lifestyle and while I do not like it, it is not up to me to judge those who will dwell in it. They will answer to God one day just as I shall.

Seems like you're just as judgemental against obese preachers as they are against homosexuals. Remember, we all sin . . . love the sinner, hate the sin.

Obesity if caused form gluttony is a sin, not from a medical condition. It is always easier to fault others than to accept that maybe you are not living up to your potential.

When John Hagee and Jerry Falwell are preaching against gays, people are focusing on their words -- and not on their fat. So, the spotlight is on somebody else, and not on their own glaring sins. It's extremely hypocritical but they always justify everything because they want people to think they are special.

Um, homosexuatlity is a sin. I can tell you as a nurse, that being obese is not always due to sinful behavior. There are many health issues that cause obesity. So I would be careful not to judge!

I am not judging...it is in the bible that homosexuality is a sin...there is no way around it!
