Trinitarians use this verse to prove the trinity, although it doesn't. In this his verse, Jesus gives one final command to his followers to go to the people wherever they are and tell them about the things they learned from him, including God's name, Jehovah, how to pray, and the good news of God's kingdom (or government) that will bring the needed changes to this earth--such as eliminating sickness, wickedness, and death. Name-only Christians do not follow Jesus' final command. They prefer to go to church on Sundays and to sit on their hands and pay some clergymen to do their preaching for them.

Jehovah's Witnesses take their preaching and disciple-making work very seriously. They are in over 235 lands world wide. Their principle publication, the Watchtower, is the most widely distributed religious magazine on the planet. It is printed in over 130 languages each month. The Watchtower does not replace the Bible; it helps to exxplain it.

To be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and holy spirit have nothing to do with personal names. "In the name of" means "in recognition of." Being baptized in the name of the Father means to have made a dedication to him, to be baptized in symbol of that dedication in full recognition of his office, supremacy and his authority as the Most High. As expressed by our Leader: “I am come . . . to do your will, O God.” (Heb. 10:7)

To be baptized in the name of the Son. means recognizing and following the example set by the Son who thus symbolized his dedication to Jehovah. He is the proper one to follow because, as his heavenly Father states: “Behold, I have given him for a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander to the peoples.” (Isa. 55:4, AS) “God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name, so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground, and every tongue should openly confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”

Baptism in the name of the holy spirit is a public declaration that we recognize the holy spirit and acknowledge the role it plays in Jehovah’s purposes. It implies that we will cooperate with the spirit, doing nothing to hinder its operation among Jehovah’s people.

28:19, 20 As Head of the new creation, He then issued the Great Commission, containing “standing orders” for all believers during the present phase of the kingdom—the time between the rejection of the King and His Second Advent.

The Commission contains three commands, not suggestions:

1. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.” This does not presuppose world conversion. By preaching the gospel, the disciples were to see others become learners or followers of the Savior—from every nation, tribe, people, and tongue.

2. Baptize “them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” The responsibility rests on Christ's messengers to teach baptism and to press it as a command to be obeyed. In believer's baptism, Christians publicly identify themselves with the Triune Godhead. They acknowledge that God is their Father, that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior, and that the Holy Spirit is the One who indwells, empowers, and teaches them. Name in verse 19 is singular. One name or essence, yet three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

3. Teach “them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” The Commission goes beyond evangelism; it is not enough to simply make converts and let them fend for themselves. They must be taught to obey the commandments of Christ as found in the NT. The essence of discipleship is becoming like the Master, and this is brought about by systematic teaching of, and submission to, the Word.

Then the Savior added a promise of His presence with His disciples until the consummation of the age. They would not go forth alone or unaided. In all their service and travel, they would know the companionship of the Son of God.

Notice the four “alls” connected with the Great Commission: all authority; all nations; all things; always.

Thus the Gospel closes with commission and comfort from our glorious Lord. Nearly twenty centuries later His words have the same cogency, the same relevance, the same application. The task is still uncompleted.

What are we doing to carry out His last command?

To baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, means to baptize a person with the authority which is given unto the minister, by the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus explained very well in his Holy Word, that He, the Father, and the Holy Spirit; even though they were three different individuals; they were also One. (John 17:11 & 21) When Jesus spoke of making disciples, He was speaking of telling other people about the salvation which He has provided for us through his blood; and when they accept Him as their personal Savior, we are to help teach them and lead them in their walk with the Lord Jesus; helping them to learn what their duty is as servants of God. And most importantly, teaching them to obey the Word of God. Jesus never commanded his disciples to do anytthing, which was in contradiction to the Word of God. We are to read the Word of God; learning what Jesus taught his personal disciples. This is what God also commands us to do; just as Jesus commanded his disciples to do.

When you accept the son as savior, the spirit comes upon you which sets you apart from those who do not believe. When you die and are presented to the father, the son and spirit speak up for you and claim you as a member of the kingdom. (more to it but I'm keeping it brief) So to accept 1 is to accept all 3, reject 1 and you reject all 3.

A disciple is someone you helped come to faith. You do not just minister to them and leave them alone to find their way, you nurture them and explain things to them. Help them with their questions and show them the answer in the scripture. You teach them everything you know about it until they know enough to strike out on their own and join the cycle.

The things He commanded is rather easy. Just read the things that Jesus said before He said that. The sermon on the mount is FULL of commandments and happens very early in Matthews gospel, you could spend weeks on it and not discover everything he was teaching there. He is simply saying to teach to the new disciples all the things Jesus taught to HIS disciples.

Jesus foretold for our day this work: "This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations: and then the end will come." He also in instructed his followers: "Go...and make disciples of people of all the nations."

THIS IS WHY JEHOVAH'S WITNESS PREACH FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE.

Water baptism is a requirement for all who want to have a relationship with Jehovah God.

Jesus himself set the example by being baptized in water. He was not sprinkled with water, and he did not just have some water poured over his head. (Christian baptism means to be fully dipped or immersed, in water.

TO BE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER ,SON AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

This means that a baptism candidate recognizes the authority of Jehovah God and of Jesus Christ. (Pslm. 83:18; Matt. 28:18)

He also recognizes the function and activity of God's holy spirit, or active force. Gal. 5:22,23; 2 Peter 1:21.

However, baptism is not a mere bath. It is a symbol of something very important. Going beneath the water symbolizes that you have died to your former life course. Being raised up out of the water indicates that yo are now alive to do the will of God.

Baptism is dying from your sins and resurrecting in submission to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Making Disciples is telling others of the love of Jesus and of Gods Holy Word.

Teaching, is living God word out

If you are asking for things in complete detail, you want a book. These two verses have so much info in them concerning what Jesus desired that it would take a book to explain it all. So let's begin.

First, this was Jesus' command to start the Church. He had died and rose from the dead and is about to ascend into heaven. Through His death and resurrection He had conquered death and now held authority over all things (Matt 28:18). So He gives the two fold command. "Go" that is, reach the whole world with the good news about His death and resurrection, about who He is and how He changes lives. "Make Disciples", that is, reveal the truth concerning Jesus Christ in such a way that men and women, boys and girls will want to follow Him, to live for Him.

The next part of the verse tells how to make disciples. The primary step in making disciples is "baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." Baptism in the name of someone is the means of identifying that individual as a follower of that person. For instance, in 1 Corinthians 10, we read that the Israelites, by crossing the Red Sea were baptized into Moses. That means, when they chose to enter the Red Sea, they chose to no longer follow Pharaoh, but to follow, commit their lives, trust in Moses. To be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, And Spirit indicates that the individual being baptized leaves allegiance to themselves or to any other god or religion behind. They now trust in, rely on, commit themselves publicly to the One Triune God.

Once committed, then they are committed to following, obeying, loving God and God's plans. So the disciple needs to be instructed in the ways of God. Jesus had instructed the Apostles how to live for God, and it was their responsibility to pass on the things Jesus taught them to the new disciples. They did this by their teaching while alive and by the Bible now that they are gone. So, a disciple is one who has understood the power of the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ, has let go of their old way of life and publicly declared their allegiance to God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - through baptism, and who seeks to understand all that the Lord has commanded so that they can live like Jesus lived here on earth.

That is it in a nutshell.

- baptize is to "dip or immerse" (like water baptism - it's a ceremony to symbolize identification with Jesus), and you do it in the name of God because he is the one with authority, who is authorizing people to come to him. It's like when you do transactions at work, you do it "in the name" of Company X, because the company, not you as an individual, is ultimately authorizing the transaction.

- A disciple is simply someone who learns from a teacher. It's simply a command to go to other places and teach other people the things that Jesus taught.

Jesus said you must be born again.Being born again into baptism is where you want to acknowledge that you have died to the world and rose a new creator.God sent Jesus to bring mankind back into fellowship with him through obeying what Jesus says, and the Holy Spirit is the one that draws you to God, and shows you the truth of God.
Jesus also said if you abide in me and my words abide in you you shall ask what you will and it shall be done. He also said I will never leave you or forsake you.
He also said if you love me keep my commandments.
When you grow in the knowledge of the Lord he wants you to share or teach others to do the same.

Babtized in this sense means they are dipped in water....

But, he says make diciples first.......

To me, that means teach people about Jesus, and those that accept Jesus will be chosen by God, and Babtized with the Holy Spirit, literaly.

Then when those who were Batized by the Holy Spirit....(between just themselves and God).... then when they come back all excited because they had the Holy Spirit experience, they are to be dipped in Water to show they were made deciples.

So, first teach them, and after they have been babtized by the Holy Spirit, we are commanded to complete the process by doing the symbolic water babtism in front of men...
