Pharmacological administration of medicines refers to the route in which a medicine is introduced in to the body. Administration is typically through oral dosing (swallowing pills), topical (superficial application, like ointment), intramuscular injection, or intravenous injection.

Other routes may be rectal suppositories/enemas, transdermal patches, and sublingual (under the tongue)
