It depends on what discipline the martial art is, if it were karate, the boxer would win. Simply because karate is taught that if someone does this, you counter by doing this. Well a boxer is there to fight and win, not protect himself. If a boxer was going against a BJJ expert, as long as it stayed standing, the boxer would win, but odds are the fight would go to the ground and the boxer would tap out. It honestly just depends on what kind of martial art you are talking about and if you want statistics on it, look at the UFC when it first came out, back then they would put a specific martial art against another, youd be surprised who won, a karate guy never did.

All else being equal the Martial Artist. Boxers only know how to punch & defend against punchs. A good Martial Artist has a much bigger choice of techniques & is trained to defend against a lot more techniques.

OK...I'm thinking this is a karate or tkd guy asking this question (if not, disregard my answer). In boxing, you practice the basics of the art EVERYDAY, and spar far more often than you would in traditional martial art schools. In fact, most of boxing is just learning to use the basic techniques in the right situations. So I would go for the boxer 9 times out of 10. Given the same amount of time training, I would say boxing, hand down.

A boxer because 99% of martial artists would be very out of shape compared to a boxer since they only work on forms and not on full contact or conditioning. A boxer also has more tolerance for pain and better timing since they're used to getting beat on in the ring.

Boxer is a martial artist. So.... you would have to list a style for anyone to be able to answer. Even if you did that, people will still be so baised so this question is totally pointless.

martial artist. especially if they have studied grappling and throwing arts like judo or aikido. boxers only know brute force and punching. once the boxer is on the ground, they're screwed.

martial artist, of course, because all boxers do is punch; martial artist can actually defend, and overthrow their opponent anytime.

The boxer is a martial artist. The styles vs styles thing is in no effect, but it is the fighter who is in effect. Thanks for your time.

Whoever is tougher. But realistically there all types of variables you need to throw in before you can answer, not to say that an answer to this question is relevent anyways.
