its Joes bday today and he invited his mates out tonight to celebrate including me and my boyfriend.
anyways we got to the pub @8pm and joe was there with a few mates already. we bought Joe a drink, and sat on the next door table as there was no room. Joe and his mates didnt try to make us feel welcome.
then we got a text from the people who were late saying their taxi had only just turned up.
anyways the taxi seemed to take ages and at 8:20 joe and his mates just got up and quickly walked out of the bar without saying a thing 2 us. then a minute later i got a call from my friend saying -
why arent you in the bar we are in we thought u was with Joe and his mates?
so i told her what happened.
she said we come here n hurry up.
so i said -
no coz Joe and his mates were rude and never said anything to us after we gave him his bday drink.
but now everyone is annoyed with us for going home but we dont think we are in the wrong with this.
what do you think?

Personally I would have left as well. As my mum would say I would have "gone off to someplace where I was more appreciated."

Since Joe is usually very polite... I'd cut him some slack on this one... more than likely there was some confusion about what bar you were all supposed to be at and if you were sitting at another table he might not have noticed you didn't get up with the rest. But no you were not in the wrong... don't blame you for not going to join the rest.. but you must have been wanted at the party or you wouldn't have been texted!
Next time you go out.. don't let your party get separated! Either drag over some more chairs and cuddle up at the existing table.. or push the tables together!

It sounds like everyone should be annoyed at selfish Joe not you guys!! what is wrong with those people
You came out toe h pub to see Joe. You saw him, bought him a drink he rudely left so your obligation to stay was fulfilled.
Don't feel bad about it. These other people sound a bit dumb to me. Also THEY got to the pub late and YOU guys bothered to get there on time. Really, YOU should be mad at them for not showing up on time and keeping you company while Joe socialized with his other loser mates.
Odd.

Just apologise. Joe and his mates were probably already a bit drunk, and didn't mean any offence. just say you weren't really in the mood for a night out, and you hope you didn't spoil anything. If it's a sign of anything majorly wrong with the friendship, they will keep the argument going. Otherwise, let it drop, and enjoy your friends. Not worth losing friends just to be right.

Perhaps Joe was there longer than you realized and was already inebriated, in this stupor went off to another pub to continue the celebration..
Your friend should take it up with Joe, who (if he remembers any of this which is doubtful) left with his other friends.
Not your fault.

ya going home sounds like what i would have done. or gone somewhere else-
anyways if they're annoyed and it gets brought up just say that they left you didnt know where to and by the time you were informed you didnt feel welcomed or something- if they are your true friends they should understand- bad communication , thats all.

no, i do not think that you and your boyfriend are in the wrong. if joe had invited ya'll then he should not have ignored ya'll and should have made an attempt to have you both seated with him and his friends. do not feel bad at all.

I would have gone home too. He didn't try to make you feel welcome, he didn't thank you for the birthday drink, then to top it all off, he and his buddies got up and left without saying anything. I wouldn't need a neon sign to tell me I wasn't really wanted!
