Probably not. It would be whoever goes and registers the car. As long as you are willing to pay the extra amount and the plate doesn't have anything objectionable to the other party. Like a plate that says GO-DEM and the other guy is a republican.

I am not sure if you legally need permission, if you pay for it. But, since the car is in both names, it would probably be a good idea. I mean if you name the car "poopsie" and you are sharing it w/ a guy, he might not like that. My son named my Jeep, a manly name, so that if he drove it, he wouldn't get teased.

i will guess yes, since the registration is under both. check out the website for the secretary of state, for what ever state you live in. all the info you need should be there.
