Hello, i just got speeding ticket. I had gotten one more than 3 years ago. I had paid for that one and decided on taking traffic school, right after i paid, i find out that the tickets that cop had given out were dismissed. Later on i received a check refunding me the amount i had paid. So i went to the court today to see if i could get a print out of my record. The lady there said my record was clean. She said that the ticket i got more than 3 years ago was not dismissed on my case, i only received a check giving me back my money. Does this mean that my record is still clean? is this new ticket considered my first offense?

If the first ticket got dismissed then the one you just got would be your first.

If the first TICKET was NOT dismissed like you said it was not, then this is your second offence. Your record should still show the ticket unless it was sealed, like it sounds like if the cop had been a dirty cop, and so all his cases would be tight-lipped to stop possible lawsuits from arising, so your insurance would probably only see the one you just got, but the legal system would see the two.
Only after the time has expired, generally in 6 to 10 years depending on where you live will it be removed entirely.

If the person you spoke to says its clean you should be fine. Take that paper to court with you. Typically, a ticket won't stay on your record for more than three years, so you should be okay.

You shouldn't be speeding nonetheless, you do share the road with other people who may not be as experienced a driver as you, additionally your vehicle reacts differently at higer speeds, so slow down.

If the first ticket you received was dismissed you were not convicted. That means that if you're convicted on the second ticket you received, it will be the first one on your record.
