Our mam made it from a magazines instructions. It had a chocolate digestive base on top of that was a Swiss roll slice the body was cake mix covered in smarties and a chocolate covered marshmallow head with candy tabs sticking out. we had them for our brothers 7th birthday I think about 1968?

I found the directions for one at www.chocablog.com. It didn't have everything you mentioned, but some interesting things to do with it.
Actually just type in Dalek cake on Google and there are a lot of them. I had never heard of it before you mentioned it but it sure looks interesting.
Thanks for asking, I am a chocoholic from way back and now I am craving the stuff to make one for myself. I will probably have to wait till Easter though to do it so I have an excuse.
