Geez, you Xians sure don't know your bible:
Mark 11:13-14, 20-21
And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. ... And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.

Wow, wow, wow.
You've gotten some WAY stupid responses here. Of all of them, I think my favorite thus far is: "God knows all things and thru the holy spirit of God guidance .if we pray and listen for the answers then we also may know most all things.whats this about a fig?what does that have to do with the price of eggs in china any way.?" It gave me vertigo, this response. Seriously. Eggs? China? "What fig"? More like, I never read the Bible so I'm just going to say something illogical and mundane to prove my point... of which there is none.
Ooh, this one's good too: "He is. Your the one that dosent know when fig season is you fool! LOL." First of all, it's you're, for "you are". Secondly, it's doesn't for "does not". A "docent" means "instruction", so you are basically telling us that Militant here DOES know when fig season is. And you're right. He does!! Read Mark again, please - the questioner has been so good as to add it to the details of his question. Jesus "saw the leaves" and STILL walked over to get himself a fig. Shouldn't the son of God have known that if there are leaves on fig trees there won't be any figs. Why curse it for the rest of them? Why? Because he DIDN'T KNOW THEY WEREN'T IN SEASON (the figs themselves, not the gosh dang leaves). If a fruit blooms "out of season" it is IN season for that particular fruit. I thought Militant explained this rather well. Jesus didn't know fig trees don't leave when there are figs on them. The dude was hungry, he got pissed, he said "Ah, sh*t, a pox on you fig tree", and that was that.
It is funny to me how some Christians (like Opinionated there) insist that the Bible is The Word and thus literal, yet find metaphor wherever they can't argue. Sheesh. An "object lesson"? An object lesson teaches abstractly. What was his lesson? To "have faith in God"? Like, "here, I swore at this fig tree, now it's withered, God is real, the Pharisees are idiots?" Nothing abstract about that. He didn't like that others didn't believe him so he cursed a tree that didn't have fruit on it when he wanted it to? Also, according to the Gnostic gospels, Jesus believed that when the fig tree puts out leaves the kingdom of Heaven will be upon us, and then curses the trees so that they cannot bear anything?
Well, the fig trees are leafing and figs are everywhere. And still, no kingdom of heaven, no resurrection. Makes you wonder, eh?

God knows all things and thru the holy spirit of God's guidance .if we pray and listen for the answers then we also may know most all things.whats this about a fig?what does that have to do with the price of eggs in china any way.?but actually trees and bushes and all plants do have feelings you know.and when cussed out might just die from hurt
Jesus should have been nicer to that fig tree .your right ,but he did lose his temper .he was in a human type body not a spiritual one for Gods sake he had a brain like you and me
haven't you ever cussed out a tree before: I know i have since i am a Bigfoot and am very tall and hit my head sometimes on low hanging branches
ask the Great Spirit of the Forest into you and all will be OK
and i think Jesus should have apologized to that tree so it wouldn't die.

A fig tree bears fruit before it bears leaves. The phrase "in season" refers to the fruit being ripe. However the tree should have had figs on it. You can eat unripe fruit if you are very hungry.

Dur maybe it has deeper theological meaning? If you would look at the example in Mark, the writer surround the story of the "cleansing of the temple" by the story of the Fig tree. It has deeper theological meaning then the physical tree withering... But then again doing a literal study of the Bible is "ignorant" and making "smart" comments about it is way more educated. You should use spell check too btw. And its Zion not Xian. Before you quote who we don't know our material first have the smarts to know what you are talking about.

Jesus knows exactly when fig harvest is.
The fig tree is very unusual.
It bears fruit BEFORE the leaves come out every season.
Fruit first; leaves later to shade the fruit as it grows.

if youre talking about the passage in Mark then I think you missed the point about what Jesus was trying to convey using the fig tree

He told us to be aware of what was happening so we would know the season of His return. He said himself that nobody knew the exact day except God, not even Him. He told us many of the things to look for that are happening in these very days, read them and look around.
