Today?
Hello I was a teenager in 1983-89 and I was overweight the whole time!
As for the Physically fit thing, has to do with lack of exersize. More TV stations than one can watch in a life time. More junk food than good food. Parent's bad diet habits being transferd to their kids and lack of any excersize.
Now I am not scoffing these things because I love food and TV. But These are at least some of the contributing factors.

I believe that the reason that most teenagers today aren't as fit as ones of 20-30 years ago is that most of their activities are stationary. With todays society we don't let our children out until dark or a little later. They are more interested in computers, TV, and video games. 20-30 years ago there were out playing, sports , riding bikes, and other activies that kept them moving. It's simple physics, you don't move you don't stay in shape, not to mention when your just sitting around you tend to snack more. 20 years ago we didn't think about eating until we had to come in.

right this moment's childrens are no longer as bodily greater healthful as they'd desire to be. information let us know that the cost of early existence weight problems has skyrocketed on account that only 10 years in the past. it incredibly is the 1st technology it incredibly is envisioned to have a SHORTER lifespan than their mum and dad, as a results of coronary heart sickness and diabetes! what's incorrect with those childrens? i think it incredibly is by technique of loss of exact interest. Too many childrens only take a seat around watching television or playing video games. Ten or 20 years in the past, childrens spent greater time using motorcycles and playing "pickup" activities with their acquaintances. those days are long previous, and now all and sundry only sits on their butts and eats doritos and soda.

They aren't as physically fit as they should be because the are not physically active. Kids today watch much more TV and play electronic games than even a generation ago. My husband is a phys ed teacher and he has seen a huge change in the past thirty years that he has taught. Also, in his school, as in most, as schools try to meet their budgets they look for areas in which to cut costs and the phys ed program is one of them. The children only have to go to phys ed twice a week. I think state laws vary from state to state, but with children being less active even from kindergarden it creates a life long pattern of being less active. The thrust of a lot of the phys ed classes these days is for life long activities that they can carry i nto their adulthood, but if he isn't allowed to teach much how can they learn these skills? It is very frustrating.

Hello. I believe the answer might be that they don't exercise. They eat junk food. Also they consume too much soda drinks and sweets. Also the reason they are not as physically fit as they should be is probably this could be linked to if they are depressed < ( based on their emotions) "emotional eating". Sometimes they don't feel hungry. But they just crave for some food. They don't even realize it it's going to make them fat. The other reason might be how their parents are. If their parents are obese, they are going to be obese too. They look how their parents are eating unhealthy food, and they do it too. They waren't introduced to healthy eating. That's my guess, i think this was helpful!

Television and video games. Simple as that. Teenagers spend the majority of their lives sitting on a couch, staring at a screen, and eating junk food.

I don't agree that they all aren't. My daughter is way more physically fit than I was at her age, and it's because there are lots more sports for her to participate in, both at school and at the parks and local clubs. Her school offers more choices for P.E. than just the one size fits all class we had in High School, so she enjoys exercise. The kids I see who are in terrible shape seem to be that way because they eat way too much fast food because their parents are too busy to cook at home, and have taught them to eat that way. They also stay inside and play video games and watch t.v. instead of riding bike or playing a sport. It's easier for a busy parent to keep track of their kids that way, but it's terrible for the children.

teens are surrounded by entertainment options that require them to be sedentary... computing, gaming, etc. 20 years ago, they had to go out and interact with others to be entertained. Now, it can all be done while sitting on a chair or lying on a bed or sofa.
