Hello! I am wanting to run a 5K in five weeks. However, I have not run in 3-4 years, not to mention I've gained some weight since then. Would it be possible to train for a 5K in that amount of time? What do I need to do? I am also wanting to lose weight--about 20 lbs--but not in 5 weeks of course! How long would it take to lose that much? Any changes to eating habits? I am 22 (if age matters). Thanks!

Because of your age, most likely it will be pretty easy for you to lose weight. Avoid these foods except for maybe one day a week: cheese (except mozzarella) sodas (even diet) sweets of any kind, fast foods, fried foods. Really limit your portions especially at dinner. Breakfast, lunch will be your bigger meals while dinner is your smallest. Eat a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Eat small snacks if you're hungry in-between meals so that you won't over eat at the main meals. Include fruits and veggies into your day as much as you can. By cutting out sugars and excess foods you'll lose several pounds a week--the healthy way.
Because of the time span of 3-4 years of not running, and being overweight, I would suggest you start out slow and gradually work yourself up, and try to not be in a hurry to prevent injuries. You'll want to be safe and get ready at the same time. Start out walking for several days and then when you feel ready just run for a minute and walk, intervals are necessary to build up for the whole run. Take it slow, get some good running shoes, watch your foods, drink alot of water and most of all have fun!! I'll bet you'll enjoy doing it again go for it!

Well it will depend on how discovered you're. First factor I propose is keep off the treadmill and pass external. Run on a well strolling direction, sidewalk or riskless road. Start off with three miles, due to the fact you'll be able to do that on a treadmill, and spot if you'll be able to conclude with out a going for walks holiday. Run four-five days every week (no funny story, five ideally) with a time without work within the center and the time without work on the finish (like Wednesday and Sunday). The first week you will have to run four-five days, three miles every (5k). If you'll be able to conclude the three miles with little to no crisis you'll be able to expand subsequent week. The moment week run four-five days however on two days expand to four miles. The 3rd week run four-five miles and on two days expand to five miles. You would possibly not turn out to be lightning rapid and you can also even must include a couple of stroll breaks however you will have to be competent to conclude five miles.
