Tornadoes generally occur when the atmosphere is severely destabilized. This occurs when there is a big contrast in temperatures between two masses of air. When a warm front is hit by a cold front, the air becomes destabilized and this causes rain and wind and tornadoes.

What do you mean? What kind of conditions occur before a tornado. I have heard hail falling is one.

Warm moist air from the south, converging with cold air from the north... when these two different types of air masses converge, the clouds start to rotate because the warm and the cold air collide and spin.
You mean what's it look like? The sky turns green first, then you will notice big blackish purple thunder head clouds with strong winds, then a moment of calm...THEN TAKE COVER!!
