The blood will be destroyed. You will notified by the famous "blue letter" that your blood has reacted positively to such and such. It will ask you to come in for repeat testing.

If for some reason you cannot be contacted, the blood will still be destroyed.

If you realize after you have donated that you might have been exposed to something, contact the Red Cross immediately.

I don't know where you live, however when you donate blood to the American Red Cross (and presumably to other mainstream organizations) your blood is tested for myriad diseases and irregularities. If your blood is found to contain any of them, the donated fluids are destroyed and the donor is notified as quickly as possible.

They specifically ask you when you go to donate blood if you have any terminal illnesses and if you are unsure they ask that you do not use the bloodbank as a way to get your blood tested. If you do happen to donate blood and it is contaminated they will notify you and you will be forbidden to donate again. Otherwise you will recieve notification of your blood type.

I donate plasma, and they will contact you if there is a problem. Also your name is put into a Nat. data list showing that you are infected with what ever may be the cause. The old saying "No news, is good news."
