Yes, I think that people should give themselves a chance to develop their personalities and learn about themselves before they start worrying about impressing a guy - how can you be compatible or offer anything to a partner when you have just starting learning who you are and what you want from life?

I grew up when the appropriate age to date is 16. But then your date had to come to your home, meet your parents. They had to know exactly where you were going and what you were doing and there was always a strict curfew. Now days things are a little bit more liberal. But in my opinion, the age to date should depend on your maturity level. Also the big question is where are you going, what are you doing, and who are you going to date. This is something that your parents should assess. They are the only ones that can make that decision. Not us or yourself. I would consider letting my daughter date at 15 after taking in all the information above. Definitly not less than 15. Good Luck with your parents and remember stay safe.

i had my first boyfriend when i was 14 in ninth grade, and i'm still with him. but i think high school is the best time for serious dating because then you have a better chance of actually getting to go on a date with them instead of being a school couple where you only see them during the day in classes. kids at my school started 'dating' in fifth grade, but that didn't mean anything. i think fifteen is a good age, but maybe wait until high school? it's your decision, though.

Seriously dating, yes. But discovering boys and going out with a group of friends to the movies or bowling or something, no. You have to learn about boys sometime, but dont even think to try to get serious now, you are far too young for that.

It really depends on your parents and what they think. What I think is a good idea is if you want to date now, do the group date thing. That way you won't be pressured to get too touchy-feely and stuff. Right now you should be having fun! Not all the boy trouble that some people have! :D Good luck!

I plan to let my daughter start dating after she is 16, BUT her first date with ANY guy is going to be at my home! The guy can pick a movie to bring to my house and I will provide the food! If a guy can't have the nerve to spend some time at my house he doesn't deserve to take my daughter out!
Call me old fashioned but I love my daughter and want a guy that will treat her right and respect her!

I'm the same age and I think that it is a great age to date. Not seriously yet though. Cuz it is good to have guys that are just friends because they don't lie to you and they aren't worried about how you or how they look. And they don't complain as much.
