Well it depends on the personallity of the dog. Yes...just like people dogs have personallities to. Rough, playful, lazy...

Luke is a cute name but, I don't know if it would suit the dog or not. You have to decide what kind of personallity it has. Then go from what it's like. Pick a name that suits his personallity.

And go to different websites...

The name you choose says as much about you as it does about your dog. It shows how you view your dog and your relationship with it. Some names can cause people to judge a dog and react positively or negatively/fearfully when meeting it. Depending on whether the dog is a pet, therapy dog, search & rescue dog, tracking dog or any other dog that works with the public, it is important to use a name that conveys the proper image. Happy searching!

These are apparently the top 20 male/female dog names:

Max Maggie
Jake Molly
Buddy Lady
Bailey Sadie
Sam Lucy
Rocky Daisy
Buster Ginger
Casey Abby
Cody Sasha
Duke Sandy
Charlie Dakota
Jack Katie
Harley Annie
Rusty Chelsea
Toby Princess
Murphy Missy
Shelby Sophie
Sparky Bo
Barney Coco
Winston Tasha

I don't think Luke will fit a Sheltie Corgie mix. If it's a girl, name it Brandy, Flicka, or Rose. If it's a boy, name it Buster, Charlie, or Spot.

Had a dog once that I could not come up with a name for, so I spelled the word dog and that became the name for the dog. D-O-G. Used to have fun with people over that name. Especially when asked how do you spell that. The looks on some faces were classic, when I asked, how do you spell dog?

I had a Sheltie years ago. I named him Brody. It suited him nicely. My husband had a Corgi, her name was Rip.
