I'm going on a trip in June and when I went to submit my boyfriend's application with him, the Post Office told us it would be 10 weeks for his passport, which is cutting it close. But this morning they told my dad it would be 8 weeks. And a week ago, the Post Office told my mom, brother, and I that it would be 4 to 6 weeks. So I'm wondering how long it took everyone to get their passports back after turning in their application. Thanks :)

By the way, he has already had a passport, does that speed up the processing time?

I read online yesterday that it is taking 10 weeks to process a passport, due to recent changes in law regarding border countries to U.S.. You can get one expedited for $97.00, plus $50.00, but you have to do it at time you apply.

I went on a big family cruise. I renewed my passport and got it in 3-4 weeks. The rest of the people needed new passports, most got them in 6 weeks, but my one uncle had to wait eight weeks (submitted at exactly the same time.) My boyfriend paid the rush charge and got it in exactly 2 weeks.

The only way to assure you have the passport in time is to pay for expedited processing and give proof of a travel date. You are applying far enough in advance that if you are forced to change plans and accrue additional fees the monkey is on the passport center.
