no, it doesn't forbid alcoholic beverages, it only warns about getting drunk from said alcoholic beverages.

No. The first miracle Jesus performed when on earth was to turn water into a win at a wedding feast in Cana. Later the Apostle Paul advised Timothy to drink "a little wine for the sake of your stomach."
Reread 1 Corinthians 6. It refers to drunkards. Not drinkers of wine. There's a big difference.
And if you look at that chapter in Proverbs you'll notice that verse 30 refers to those staying "a long time with the wine". Again referring to over-indulgence.
At Psalm 104 King David refers to God's many gifts, including in verse 15 And wine that makes the heart of mortal man rejoice,
Drinking wine isn't wrong. Drunkedness is. Just like eating isn't wrong, but gluttony is.

Jesus drank wine on occasion (John 2:1-11; Matthew 26:29). Ecclesiastes 9:7 encourages one to “drink wine with a merry heart.” Amos 9:14 describes drinking wine from one's own vineyard as a sign of God’s blessing. Ephesians 5:18 warns Christians to avoid drunkenness, not drinking in moderation. Proverbs 23:29-35 also condemns intoxication. 1 Corinthians 6:12 and 2 Peter 2:19 warn Christians to not allow their bodies to be “mastered” by anything. Drinking alcohol in excess is undeniably addictive. 1 Corinthians 8:9-13 forbids a Christian from doing anything that might offend other Christians or might encourage him to sin against his conscience.
So it seems that drinking isn't forbidden. Overdoing it is.

Joh 2:8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
Joh 2:9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
Eph 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Jesus turned water into wine...
And Jesus drank wine too...
some say it was Non-alcoholic back then....but next time they say that, I'm going show them the verses you looked up in Proverbs!! How could wine be non-alcoholic and Sting you in the end?
I think as long as you drink socially, and at dinner in moderation, it's okay......as long as you're not drinking just to get drunk (like a drunkard) or become dependant on it like an Alcoholic.

I think the verse are self-explanatory. Mostly the wealthy drank wine in those days to the point of drunkenness. God is speaking of those who over did it until wine over took their lives. I am sure they had alcoholics back then as we do today. Therefore, it is drunkenness that is condemned more than the wine itself.
God is telling us it is better or preferable that we be filled with the Spirit instead with wine.
You know what beer, and hard liquor do to peoples lives. Again folks get to decide whether to take that first drink.
There is nothing new under the sun.

I see TC"S point but,
The wine had to be ferminted when Paul told the men not
to come to church to get drunk (They were using the communion WINE to get drunk) You can't get drunk drinking non ferminted drink.
2. Paul told Timothy to use it for his stomachs sake (There no need for it if it doesnt have any medicinal purpose)
3. You used the old Testament Heres what you missed
Deut.13:25,26 ...change the tithe into money ... and spend it on whateVer your heart desires; for oxen, or sheep or WINE or STRONG DRINK.... and rejoice you and your household
4. Back to the NEW TESTAMENT COL. 2:16 ..LET NO MAN JUDGE YOU IN FOOD OR DRINK
5. Mark 7:... you hypocrytes!!....but in vain do they worship me...14 listen to ME! ther is nothing outside of man that defileth a man if it goes into him; but that which comes out of the man...
6. DON'T TRY AND MAKE THE BIBLE BETTER YOU CAN ONLY SCREW IT UP AND MAKE NONBELIEVERS STAY
NONBELIEVERS ASK ELIHU...JOB 32-36: 22 behold God is exalted in HIs power; who is a teacher like Him, who has appointed Him His way....

The Bible warns us against drunkenness and other excesses. It does not forbid drinking of alcoholic beverages, which Jesus and the Apostles certainly did, as wine was the common everyday drink of the time and everyone drank it. Jesus also provided wine for the wedding feast at Cana, which He could not have done if the subsequent drinking of that wine was against God's will.

in no way - Jesus' first miracle grow to be to coach water into wine. there are a number of mentions of utilising alcohol in the Bible. the only ingredient forbidden is drunkeness. Ephesians 5:18 are not getting drunk on wine, which ends up in debauchery. instead, be crammed with the Spirit. John 2 - Jesus' miracle yet - If our eating reasons others to stumble, people who perhaps fall into drunkeness extra honestly, we are to abstain. Romans 14:21 that's extra perfect to no longer eat meat or drink wine or to do something which will reason your brother to fall. a million Timothy 5:23 supply up eating in effortless terms water, and use slightly wine because of the fact of your abdomen and your well-known ailments. See, there are verses on the two sides of this. The Bible warns us of the hazards of over indulgence, yet would not limit it thoroughly. trouble-loose experience says it is genuine.

Jesus turned water into wine. I would think if the Son of God endorsed it (as apparently he did here), then it would be alright. The Bible, apparently, condemns drunkenness, but the wine in the Bible DOES have alcohol in it. If you don't add sugar to grape juice, it ferments, and the Hebrews did not have access to sugar.
My question to a poster above, if the wine in the Bible was like juice today, then why did they condemn its use because of drunkenness. If it wasn't alcoholic, how did someone get drunk on it?

To say that wine 2000 years ago was unfermented, non-alcoholic and similar to juice is such fundamentalist revisionist history.
The primary reason why people made wine and beer back then was because fermentation was a preservative. Water made into beer would not go bad on long journeys. The same goes for wine.
