If you plan to be an airdale, and on a carrier, you wont see much of the world. Aircraft carriers spend a good 90% of their deployment at sea, and when they do come in its at a deep water port, at major naval facilities, then your talking about 6,000 plus sailors invading that port all at once. not to much fun. Now if you join the navy and deploy on a tin can, a destroyer, well then you get to see a good portion of the world, as most ports are shallow water, I would pick a job that maintains helicopters, all destroyers, from guided to frigates have at least one helicopter on board.

In just over 20 years I saw/lived in
Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Kenya, Malaysia, Singapore, Guam, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, went up to Alaska for a bit, (I know Alaska and Hawaii are USA, but I probably would never have seen them if I hadn't been in the Navy), Mexico, Venezula, Brazil, Jamaica, (2 or 3 small Carib islands I can't remember the names, thats how good a time we had there haha), Florida, Washington state, Oregon. Might be a few more places, but I can't remember.

I deployed in the Atlantic and Pacific. I have been on every continent except Antarctica. Just be sure to use the MWR trips that are offered in virtually every port. Photo safaris in Kenya, Outback trips in Australia, diving in the Caribbean, etc. Have fun, I did.

your MOS will determine a vast amount of your postings, but meet my US Navy husband whilst he was on a 2 year stint in England and basically there is not a country he has yet to visit.......oh and Pensacola is pretty much being down sized and you forgot to mention San Diego and Jax in Florida as MAJOR bases............
Have fun and even if you dont travel as much as you would like at least you will have the cash to do so from your Navy Pay

Your ship may pull in all over the globe, but what you see of the globe can be rather limited depending on how you manage your shore duty and what sort of restrictions are placed on you at every port. It's nice if you can pull off a couple day's leave while in port, but sometimes you only manage a few hours and that doesn't leave a lot of time for sight seeing, which is what I call, "Seeing the world."
You do get to see a lot of naval ports and whore houses and bars and strip clubs, but the world???? Not too much unless you actually determine to be stationed in a different place with each enlistment.

Wherever your ship goes, you go. If your ship is stationed out of an East Coast port, you'll see a lot of Europe and the Middle East. If it's stationed out of a West Coast port or Hawaii, you'll see a lot of the Pacific to include Korea and Japan.

Generally you get stationed to one spot. If you are put aboard a ship you run a pattern and come back to the original base. If you are stationed in Japan, it's very unlikely you will be sent to Europe unless you ask to be transfered.
Even if you are put on a ship, most stay below deck and aren't allowed topside.
