The actual process of having a fixed brace applied is not painful. Be aware that it will probably hurt for a few days afterwards though as the pressure on your teeth will cause them to ache. This should all be minimilised with the use of dental wax for sharp edges, paracetamol, bonjela and sipping cold icy drinks to numb the pain. Good luck!

You HAVE to trust me.
I recently got braces...it does NOT hurt at ALL.
Here is EXACTLY what they did to me
They put on brackets (the metal things) first. They do it 1 tooth at a time. They dry your tooth of first of all. Then they paint your tooth with something (not exactly sure what it is) witch you can't feel at all. Then they'll put a blue light (the surrondings of it are orange) near that tooth. That is so the thing they painted on hardens a little. Then the take the bracket on the center of your tooth. Then they'll put the blue light on again to harden the thing completely so it is hard a rock...with the bracket on it. They'll do that for all your teeth.
after they've done all the brackets they'll fit the wire into a small indent in you're bracket they'll make sure all the brackets are attached to the wire...then they'll snip the wire on the ends so it doesn't poke your gum.
then they'll put the elastics on (the elastics are the colored things you see on peoples braces) by simpley hooking them onto the bracket.
after that, you're done!!!

Yeah, but only for a few days. My school is like BracesCity so I've heard plenty of braces stories. It'll be almost impossible to eat for like 2 or 3 days but in the end it's worth it.

Having the braces put on doesn't hurt. It's the tightening that hurts - your teeth are always sore (or at least mildly tender) for a couple of days after each tightening.

It won't hurt when they put the metal on, but it will hurt when the tighten the rubberbands each month. The teeth will hurt so bad that touching them hurts for a few days, which makes eating unpleasant. While uncomfortable its not painful.
You'll be fine.

It varys, mine didnt hurt at all, getting them put never hurts from what my mates have said but sometimes they ache a bit afterwards as it puts pressure on your teeth. I wouldnt worry, if it does hurt afterwards a pain killer will make it go away and the pain rarely lasts longer than a day.

Getting the braces on will be fine but you will have some discomfort after it is all done. Take ibuprofen or naproxen. Be sure to ask your orthodontist now many milligrams of ibuprofen or naproxen he recommends you take so you know how many tablets to use.

You'll just feel pressure on your teeth, take tylenol, eat a lot of ice cream, and try to fall asleep so it won't hurt you as much..Good luck..Just think in 2 years all that pain will be worth it because you'll have perfect teeth..=)

Getting them on doesnt hurt at all! Just stay relaxed and you'll be find. Just think about how great your smile will be when you're all done! Afterwards though, when they tighten them, you'll be a little sore. Take it easy and take some advil and you'll be fine!

eh its not too bad at first, it'll hurt and you'll be eating alot of soup, scrambled eggs, and mashed potatoes, but after theyre on for a little, maybe a week or 2 depending, it wont hurt that bad.
then think of how nice your teeth will be at the end!
