That Satan seems like a troubling fellow, and considering that God can do anything, don't you think God would just put a stop to his dirty work?

May the peace, blessing and mercy of God be upon you

Satan is given respite and those who forget God, for them Satan misleads them, and they only increase in sinfulness until the Day of Judgment.

Peace Be With You

I agree with John. He put a different little twist on everyone's answers (which are also correct). God will put a stop to Satan when the time is right. We can't really question why he doesn't do it now. We just can't understand the mind of God.

but what John is saying is that God stops Satan now. If you ask for his protection in certain areas where Satan tempts you, God will help you. And when you become a Christian, God gives you the right to tell Satan to back off in the name of Jesus, and Satan has no choice but to leave you alone. At least for some time, until he thinks of something else to do to you or to tempt you with.

PS -pestilpen3: That doesn't make sense. How does that make them both the same? Satan was an angel that God created before he fell. Now he is the head "fallen angel." He is not a creator.

Because God is everything and everyone. Satan is an aspect of the human mind not some creature out there somewhere. Why do you give into temptation? God is your highest aspect and Satan represents your mistaken mind that believes there could ever be a battle between good and evil. Satan is the mistaken mind that harms his brother (in God's name) with words or actions because his brother doesn't believe what he believes or live the way he chooses to live. Satan is in the mind of the person who believes he knows what is best for all others without even asking them because he thinks he read it in scripture. Satan is in the mind of the believer who closes his heart and mind to Gods immediate presence in the people and world around him in favor of some archaic words written in a book, translated by those who didn't understand it any better, just because someone told him these were the words of God.

Either "He will" (see the first two answers), which begs the question "What was the point in the first place and what's the holdup?" - or

"Satan was an angel who rebelled," which begs the question "How can any being, angel or man, rebel against an omnipotent, omniscient God?" - or

"It's all part of God's plan," which is simply too meaningless to "beg the question" at all.

Logically speaking, either God is one, and all "evil" including its personification in "Satan" proceeds directly from God; or God is two, "God" and "Satan" being co-equal beings with equal authority over man, which takes the blame for human suffering off of God and explains why He hasn't disposed of Satan; OR Christian theology is nonsense.

Reason, if God created the whole Universe, if He knows all about Present, Past and Future, if there is no other Creator, then... He and Satan are the same person, that is, Satan is a part of God.

Yes, God does put a stop to Satan's dirty work but you need to believe in God to experiance the same.

If God put a stop to Satan, then there's no more need for Him to be around and see who does it better or not. There will no longer be a test to know the difference between what is right and what is not right and life would be as boring as a childs life who is asked to sit tight and have nothing to do. " I'm Bored!"

It has been predetermined by God, that Satan shall be cast into the lake of fire and destroyed once and for all. Yet, do not think that Satan is beyond the control of God, for if this were so, earth would already be hell itself.

Of course you're assuming that the satan is working independently of God. To believe so is idolatry and nothing could be further from the truth. The satan has no free will and does God's bidding at all times. It's job is to test man, tempting him to fail. Unfortunately, it is far too good at its job.

God has time to put an end to satan works, and it will be the seventh day when God and his creation will rest.
The bible call it the judgment day, and some call it the end of time.
