Nowadays any legal work may or may not provide enough income to support a family. With that said, I would look for a job that offers the most likley chance for acquiring raises, benifits and starts out at least minimum wage. I would also sign up for food stamps and any other benifits program I could find that would apply to my situation. At this point, you cannot allow pride to interfere with being both a good father and a good provider. I wish you much luck. (And NO, I am not suggesting that you break the law.)

At 17 there isn't a lot for you to do, but a great steady job is the military. My husband is in the Navy and supports me and our two kids on one salary. Military isn't for everyone though. You can try working at an office doing what ever you can and try to do some kind of schooling to better yourself to get a better job. Good luck.

Depends on where you live. It's great that you're trying to get things together.
If you live in an area of growth, start out being a laborer on a construction team.....then pick an area that you like, maybe framing, plumbing. See if you can apprentice for someone. Just work your butt off and try to make an impression.
You could work in a warehouse. Receiving or shipping.
Find out what your community or city is known for, and try to get a job in that field.

Fast food, grocery stores, amusement parks, library, day care, just about any store will hire a 17 year-old. Can't really do general labor jobs(factories) until you're 18. Good Luck!

You should get your GED or you'll probably be stuck working dead-end jobs for the rest of your life. Most jobs (even factory work or working at Wal-Mart) require either or high-school diploma or a GED. Getting a GED will create a lot more job opportunities for you.

Well, if you really want to support your family, finish school! You can work nights after school to help pay for things.
