I always make my own spaghetti sauce but I don't always want spaghetti. Goulash is also good, but we always have that too. Also, we're not big fans of lasagna. My question is; what else can we use spaghetti sauce for?

I make a baked penne my family loves.. you can cook it in the oven or throw it in the slow cooker either way it comes out great and they eat the left overs for a couple days!

I use an 8x8 pan so you may wanna adjust this depending on what size you use more or less

1 lb browned hamburger
2 cups Penne Pasta
2 cups Shredded Mozzarella
and your sauce (i pre make mine and freeze it ususally abut a quart bag or so will do the trick)

You boil the penne and then put it, the hamburger, and sauce in yoru pan mix it up so that everythings pretty well soaked in sauce you then put the cheese over the top

bake in the oven at 325 for 20 minutes

if you want to put it in the slow cooker i mix everything togther cheese and all (it seems to melt better that way in the slow cooker and not get gunky on top from any moisture) put it on low for 4 hours

For the spinach or a topping on slices of bread or a Thomas Muffin and make mini pizzas. Saute garlic in the pan with bacon pieces(you can always omit if you choose) and when the pan is good and hot add the spinach. Saute and as it begins to wilt, add the spaghetti sauce, I like to also add sundried tomatoes and turn down the heat. It absorbs the juices and become soft and plump. Delicious.

Eggplant or Chicken Parmesan;
Angel hair with: italian sausage roasted in pan, but then drain fats before adding sauce.

If you eat seafood try: shrimp with the angel hair lots of garlic (good for you too) always use olive oils to cook healthier but with seafood I Iike butter. Fresh B asil leaves. YUM.

If you want to try something really different bake a spaghetti squash for 1 hr. in the oven. Cut open, remove seeds then take a fork and scrape " the spaghetti" of the squash comes out and it's good!

You can also try an Italian cheese omelet with a spoonful on sauce--WoW

Eggplant parmesan, or I take hamburger patties and bake in the oven, drain all the fat, cover with spaghetti sauce and put a slice of mozzarella cheese on top and put back in the oven until the cheese melts. I serve this with either buttered noodles,or several vegetables and a salad with French bread

I usually make marinara by cubing in some Roma tomatoes, some chopped and sauteed onions and mushrooms, maybe some black olives...and red peppers!

By the way, Dodd...can I get your recipe for spaghetti sauce?

Ontop of grilled chicken breasts or oversized meatballs, meatloaf for that matter. Also great on pork chops. My favorite is crockpot sausage and peppers.

Mild Italian sausage (10 links)

Crushed tomatoes, large can (non concentrated)

3 green bell peppers

2 red bell peppers

½ yellow onion

Minced garlic, 1 tablespoon

Black pepper, 1 teaspoon

Cut sausage links into 3’s. brown in skillet. Cut peppers and onion into wedges. Add all ingredients in large mixing bowl and mix together. Place in crock-pot on low for 4-6 hours. (How long depends on your crock-pot, browning the sausage before ensures it is cooked well and gets rid of some of the grease)
