how often will, in secondary school, a rumor about a girl liking you be true? and how can i tell? i'm reli confused, and i'd really like to know if this girl really likes me, or if it is just a stupid rumor.

Ask her.
Don't listen to rumors. If you don't want her, don't even worry about it. But if you like her too, just ask her.

It's like the old saying - "There's no smoke without fire".
Most rumors have at least an element of truth to them. Unless they are malicious rumors started by someone to cause trouble.
