Hi,

I'm in Africa now and had to get most of these. Yellow fever is the strongest one really, you may feel out of it after the shot, which can sometimes be painful. Malaria does not have a vaccine, but you will have to take prophylaxis (prevention tablets). There are several types, and this will be decided based on your tolerance and the sensitivity patterns in Ghana. I'm taking Doxycycline, which is taken daily after eating. Be sure to start well before you leave so that you can change the malaria prophylaxix if you have unwanted side effects.

If you're going to be in the wilderness, I highly recommend you take a course of rabies vaccination. There are many dogs around (wild), and you may not always have access to the post-exposure shots in the unlikely case you are bitten by dog/bat/etc.

Hope this helps.
