I am a canadian citizen with a US permanant resident card and want to travel to Mexico. Do I need to apply for a Canadian passport? We leave in 2 months, is that enough time?

Yes, you need a Canadian passport, as permanent residency does not qualify you for a U.S. passport.

If you are flying to Mexico, you definitely need a passport. If you are driving, then you should be able to get by with official photo I.D. and proof of citizenship, though I would still recommend getting a passport. The Passport Canada website says it could take up to 10 weeks.

You may not need a passport to travel to Mexico, but i am sure it would be required on your return to the U.S.A. I would strongly suggest you get a Canadian Passport as soon as possible it will take about 3 to 4 weeks maybe longer in your case to get the actual Passport. Good Luck

normally 2 months would be enough time. however there is a large number of Canadians applying for passports now because of America's new restrictions on travellers arriving by air. if you apply today, you may get it in time. but then again, you might not.

a couple years ago i went to mexico without a passport. i did not fly. i drove. i'm not sure if the laws have changed recently, but a Canadian B/C and photo ID should be enough to get you in.
