There's no simple answer because there's no accountability for maintenance. With proper maintenance and ideal driving conditions, no car should break down ever. for a Mustang with that many miles, you figure a few young folks have driven it, and the engine might have been modified in its past.
Its not a matter of how long it will last as much as how much you're willing to pay for the high risk of failure due to high mileage for a sports car.

I would be careful with it, most Fords make it to 250k, new transmission wouldnt help much, I would check for a car with a new engine, if you are looking at a certain '95 Mustang, I would just take it to an auto shop and get it checked out...if they installed a new transmission, find out why, and if anything else went wrong.

Any where from 1 day to 6 years. It is a used car with really high miles. Usually if thew transmission has been replaced the engine is not far behind.

If you know a someone who know mustangs will tell you that unless you are going to tear it complete apart and do a restore it may be a bad idea but if it is what you want get it and don't look back... For some parts for the SN95(94-95) to the SN197(05-Present) here is a website to get some parts if you need them

I guess it all depends on how well the car was maintained.5.0 engines are likely to last longer than their smaller brother's(4&6 cyl).A used engine from a salvage yard is not that expensive should the engine need to be replaced or a rebuilt shortblock is fairly cheap also
