Practice, practice, practice. If you repeat them enough times you should be ok. A little crying is ok as long as people can still understand you. I didn't cry, but when I finished saying the vows I had written my husband was so shocked he completely forgot his own! Also-make sure you have a written sheet (you can hide it in the bouquet) in case you go blank.

I did not write our vows, but I had them written by my MOH who is an excellent writer. I don't do well with public speaking, and my husband is even worse - so I specifically asked her to write them in the way that the officiant would say most of the stuff, and would then ask us "would you, so and so, take this person as your wedded husband etc" and all each one of us would have to say throughout the whole ceremony would be "yes". This would be a good option if you feel uneasy getting emotional or speaking in public. Otherwise, you just have to practice in front of the mirror a lot!

We wrote our vows and I had to practice them over and over again. They were written from my heart and, yes, I cried a little but the vows were real and sincere and heart felt. It's ok if you cry.

It ok to cry...I didn't write my own, but i (shh don't tell anyone, I'm a minister) I have persided over weddings and have written many, i think i have enough for a book. I didn't want to take the chance, so we did the whole repeat after me thing...Don't worry about crying, it will be just fine...
