for the individual person, history starts on the day they are born, and as they look backward on the past, it is all they can know, the future is a blank, so it is natural is it not to get the idea that yours is the greatest generation ever.? Indeed it is the most advanced, so it feels like the top of the heap, because at the time, it is.
