No. Christ taught that we must repent, believe, and be baptized to be saved (Mark 16:16; Matt. 4:17; John 3:3-5). Baptism, for example, requires more than just the Bible: it requires water and someone with authority to perform the baptism. The Bible teaches that Christ organized a Church and gave His apostles special keys and authority - authority to seal in heaven (Matt. 16:16-19), in fact, and that His Church was guided by revelation from Christ to His apostles and prophets which would provide unity and direction to believers (Eph. 4:11-14). Men claiming to rely on the Bible alone - cut off from prophetic revelation - have resulted in so much disunity and confusion about the Gospel that there are something like 3,000 Christian churches today with many contradictions in doctrine and ritual. Something more is needed for the work of the ministry: revelation and guidance from God through His chosen and authorized leaders.

I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE DON'T EVEN BELIEVE THERE OWN BIBLE AND FOR THE GUY WHO SAYS WE DONT NEED TO PRAY ABOUT SCRIPTURES BECAUSE THEY ARE STRAIGHT FORWARD. THAT IS CRAZY TO SAY SCRIPTURES DATE BACK SO FAR THAT IT REQUIRES MUCH STUDY AND PRAYER TO UNDERSTAND. WORDS THAT YOU THINK MAY MEAN ONE THING COULD MEAN A COMPLETE OTHER. I NEVER INTENDED THIS TO BE A CONFRONTATIONAL ARGUEMENT. JUST TO PLANT A SEED OF KNOWLEDGE. TO INFORM THOSE OF THINGS THEY MAY HAVE MISSED.

Yet another good one!! I don't think that believing in the Bible is all that is needed. Peter said in Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Also, in Hebrews 6:1-2:
1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
This is what the bible says about the church and how it was set up. Ephesians 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
I have had people tell me that the LDS church can't be true because prophets ended in Christs time, and God said there would be no more prophets. But, in Joel 2:28-31 it says
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
I have found it quite interesting to read some websites that claim to be anti-mormon that talk about some of these same scriptures using them against us! I'm posting a link to a website at the bottom. It is one that answers so many questions about our church!! This guy is awesome!! My friend had him as a Bishop when she was on her mission in Appleton, WI. He's a great guy, agricultural engineer and knows so much about that church!! It amazes me how much I have learned from just reading the answers to his questions! If anyone would like to just read some, feel free. I'm not trying to convert you, or make you believe as I do, but maybe from reading some of this you will understand us better.
Yet again, another great question, and there are so many scriptures I could use!! I just settled on my favorite ones.

The Bible contains the only doctrine, or system of faith we need.
"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." (Jude 3)
Notice "the faith" "WAS ONCE DELIVERED UNTO THE SAINTS."
The scriptures are complete. (2 Peter 1:3, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Some teach we need "another testament, or a later day revelation, but the Bible says we need no other gospel. (Gal. 1:6-9) In fact if someone preaches anything other that what the apostles delivered, these verses say "let him be accursed"!
The Bible is all we need for our doctrine. We need no additions. We need no other authoritative book.
Paul said he declared the "whole council of God" (Acts 20:27). This leaves room for nothing else.
But, it is not enough to just own, or even to just read a bible. We must believe and do what it says! This includes baptism, confession, repentance, etc. It is also not enough to call Jesus "Lord", but we must do the things God instructs! (Matt. 7:21)
As fot the apostles having the "keys", first, those apostles Jesus was speaking to are no longer living today.
Secondly, a more accurate translation would be as found in the New American Standard Bible: " ...whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." (Matt. 16:19)
The Idea is that the Apostles were to bind on Earth the things that already "have been bound" in heaven.
Jesus said he has "all authority" and that the apostles were to teach the things HE had commanded them. (Matthew 28:18-20)
After Jesus rose from the dead, he opened the apostles understanding of the scriptures. (Luke 24:45) He also sent the Holy Spirit to them which guided them in "all truth". (John 16:13) (How much is "all"?)
Jesus instructed the apostles that "repentance and remission of sins" should be preached to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem (Luke 24:47). In Acts 2, men were gathered in Jerusalem from all nations (verse 5), and Peter preached "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins" (verse 38). This is exactly what Christ commanded (Luke 24:47, Mark 16:16, Matthew 28:18-20)!
The things the apostles preached were the things that God had already established to be preached.

Hello, I noticed that of the 3000 confused churches you happened to share a link to
the LDS. Good for you. You're Mormon
but not of the 3000 confused Churches.
Here's my experience, with the
LDS, if you are shopping around
for a church to attend. I don't have to be
alone so much of the time now, since I
finally cut that connection with a Mormon
woman. Going to the beach is fine
as long as we come back on Saturday.
And her weekdays were earmarked for
other activities not marked David.
She couldn't be released. A rule written in stone.
Given the female's role in Joseph Smith's
church. We could never have any other
rules unless it was not buy a Stones album.
That would mean giving to a cause not Christian.
Thats the SD&R&R church.
- If it means anything to you, I can
tell you that being monotheistic in America
is like me wanting to ride a horse out on
the Beltline in the RTP. That's Raleigh
a little out of the way place in NC.
I better get Christian, or Jewish, or Muslim
and read all the hate laws every night. And
if this means anything, I was there for Church
and Sunday school every weekend as
a kid, come **** or high water.
Maybe my one true God isn't at war with the other true gods. Or I'm a Native American pagan
and don't think I should have to wear clothes.

Sean M., why would we need to pray about Scriptures? Scriptures are a starting point for belief, we don't need to pray to see if they are true or not -- or if your interpretation is correct or not.
So what if there are 3000 Christian churches today (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as to the number), as long as there is contained within them a saving faith?
Not sure what you mean about being guided by revelation of apostles and prophets when the last verse of the last chapter of Revelation reveals a penalty for adding to what is written in the Bible. You are treading on thin ice by making an assumption that we have more than just the Bible -- and doctrinal statements interpreting the Bible -- to guide us.

Dear Sean,
First, Christians DO NOT believe in luck! Second, you better do some research on the term "repent". A person cannot repent unto salvation. A person cannot circumscise their heart (Deuteronomy 10:16). These were all tests to show sinful man that we desperately need Christ. You cannot accept Jesus as so many in Y/A profess. You are following a false gospel.

You could argue that the bible is not all that is needed, but you sure shouldn't take that to mean the book of mormon is needed.... What prophetic revelations have the LDS come up with recently? I know of at least 3 Christians who prophecied flood waters were coming to Louisiana before Katrina hit.

The WT pronounces itself to be the sole real "ark of salvation". even although, the Bible in no way pronounces that a definite team, denomination, or something different than the blood shed on Calvary is our salvation. surely, being Born lower back in Christ is likened to the ark Noah equipped, which became the salvation for he and his kinfolk. In a million Peter 3: 18, it says: "For Christ additionally hath as quickly as suffered for sins, the sole for the unjust, THAT HE might deliver US TO GOD, being placed to dying interior the flesh yet made alive by using the Spirit". once you proceed interpreting by using verse 20, we see that what's defined in verse 18 is in comparison with Noah's ark. No point out right here, or everywhere, of additionally having to connect one's self to a particular employer for salvation. this is all Christ!

We are saved by Grace through Faith, it is nothing that we have done(by acts/works). Only Faith in Jesus Christ enables one to become born-again of the Spirit. Water Baptism is an outward act which exemplifies what takes place inwardly after receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior in your heart. However, Water Baptism (in the Name of the Father, Son and the Holy Ghost) is commanded by Jesus. But every person that accepts Jesus Christ in their heart won't have the opportunity to be Water Baptized. For Ex: The thief on the Cross with Jesus that accepted Him and asked to be in Paradise with Him. The thief did not have time to be Baptized but yet Jesus Christ himself told the thief that the same day he will be with Him in Paradise.

Mormons are scary. Once you're in, you can't get out. You can't read outside literature, if you leave the church, they take back the house and the job that they gave you when you joined. It's a cult. They don't really believe in the Biblical Jesus. It's obvious in the title. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Not the Jesus that's been around forever, this is a new one. Beware of false doctrines.
