After you're done with BCT and AIT what's next? Do you go home and just continue to train at the nearest Armory, considering you aren't deployed?

I'm a Staff Sergeant In the NG currently in Iraq. When you sign up you should be assigned a position in a unit based on the Military Occupational Skill (MOS). The recruiter should introduce you to your unit prior to leaving for BCT.

Your job specialty is usally assigned to specific units in each state, so the unit your assigned to may not be the closest. Now if the unit you are assigned to is deployed then you report to the your unit's armory or the nearest armory. They should be able to tell you if your unit has a rear dettachment or if you'll be attached to another unit untill your unit redeploys.

Another posibility is if your unit needs you as a replacement you maybe deployed to fill that slot.

If you dont get it in the AIT then there is a good chance that you must attend a MOS school. But such thing is likely to be in the order you will get at some time. Johan
