When Adam and Eve lived in the Garden, they lived only to serve the Lord, subservient, subordinate. When they ate of the fruit, it was an act of rebellion, and we have had free will ever since, they didn't have it before, so I would say yes.

In the view of physical science, every observable phenomenon can be explained on the bases of the known laws of nature or laws yet to be discovered. If there is a phenomenon that we cannot understand or explain with our present state of knowledge, then we have to await future discoveries and developments. The fact that we do not understand an event or a phenomenon should drive us to seek an understanding of it. There are no mysteries in science; everything has a scientific explanation.

Actually, if you read Genesis 1-3, you will see that we already had a voice. You will also discover that there is no mention of the man and woman ever seeing God after they ate the fruit which was supposed to give them the ability to see "Good and Evil." And the choice to eat the fruit removed any future choice.
