I think that I believe based on the evidence of God's faithfulness in my life. Is that external validation?? I believe that I can see the predicted results in a person's life when they do or don't follow God's principles. The validation is in the proof seen in life experience.
The Bible says that the knowledge of God is inherent in us all, and can be seen in nature.
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

True faith means accepting as valid a claim that has no foundation in evidence. If you think you can make a religious claim and then validate it by finding evidence to support it, then you are not exercising real faith.
That's where the fundies screw up with their pretentious folly of Creationism Lite euphemistically called "intelligent design". They don't have enough real faith to adhere to their creationist beliefs as religious conviction, so they struggle desperately to try to convince themselves that there is science in what they offer.
The Vatican well understands that faith cannot be based on evidence. Spend a little time on the websites of the Roman or Orthodox Catholic churches and see for yourself.

Validation is not a requirement for religious beliefs. Some religious people look for validation to win some sort of argument with those who question their beliefs. There is nothing to argue about when it comes to religious beliefs. That's why they are called beliefs.

The answer to this will depend on whether you are one of the faithful of whichever religion but as a person who follows no religion I would say religious beliefs are inherently invalid as there is no way to prove any of the claims that lie behind religious beliefs, and the likelihood that religious beliefs are wrong based on observable evidence is way greater than fifty-fifty.

Faith, an abstract noun, invalidates your question in regards to both "internal" and "external" validation because it cannot be measured by any known method producing tangible results. It is written that "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not "seen". How does one validate anything not seen? Faith is simply what it is- trust, hope, and confidence in God to fulfill His promises that He made to His people. That's why so many believers fail miserbly in this ongoing debate over creationism v evolution. Faith in God for this matter means being smart enough not to engage in something you don't believe in anyway. They know, or should know, that the Bible says that in the last times many would depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and demonic doctrines. So, it's probably not useful for any believer to validate his or her faith- Yahushua already did that for them when He was nailed to the pole.

They only need external validation if they are making external claims.

Religious beliefs, by definition, can only be internally validated.
While there may also appear to be concurrence, I believe that in the final analysis this is only on a gross level.
There will always be disagreement on the fine detail, due to our individuality.
Well, that's my opinion anyway.

In the bible in the book of Romans 3:11 "There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God". The only way to become a believer is to hear the word of God. Romans 10 :17 " Faith commeth by hearing, hearing by the word of God ."

Every belief should be validated. It doesn't make sense to just believe something because it makes you feel good.
