The most arrogant country in SE Asia?

Which of SE nations you find the most arrogant? And which people are the least foreigner-friendly?

I'm not from US, I don't like Bush either but this isn't the place to discuss that. I didn't say the rudest in the World, only the rudest in South East Asia, so it must be one of those on the list... If I let out any South East Asian country please remind me.

I've got 3 top candidates in mind but cannot decide which one. I'll choose the one which is best argumented.

Let's vote for people rather than governments.

Ok, Singaporeans are arrogant in general....

But please support your answers with arguments, whether you vote for Singapore or any other place.

I would say- Singapore due to its attitude towards others and Singaporeans themselves (many) are well-known for their 'kiasu' mentality when traveling!

I've actually not met somebody from all those countries. But I would probably say the Singaporeans are most arrogant because they're a rich country so they have a lot to gloat about. Their history is something that they may be very proud of and which may not translate very well to outsiders. I guess they're also very clannish. I was on a business trip there, while all of us who were coming from different countries were like sitting at the dinner table very quiet, they are all bunched up in one table having a good time. I felt like as host country and the regional team, they could have made us feel welcome, it's not like we are all strangers because we communicate a lot thru email. Well...
I have no candidate for the least foreigner friendly coz I haven't been to any of those places except Singapore and I don't think they are unfriendly because there a lot of expats living and working there so they must be used to the foreigners around them.

Without serious competition, the answer is Thailand. Thais (1) look down on other Asians, such as Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Myanmar, (2) they discriminate against foreigners, whether poor or rich, (3) they view themselves as existing in a world in which morals are superficial ideals which need not be heeded in a competitive environment of "face-saving" and "face-attainment", and (4) in the past 4 years alone the have claimed to have become the Asian hub for education, medical tourism, air traffic commerce, fashion, food, nominated a candidtate for the UN Secretary Generalship who was rejected by even his neighnbors, slaughtered Muslims in the south, slaughtered their own people in an illusory drug war, (5) elected a Thai Rak Thai party (that translates to Thais Love Thais--everyone else is an outsider and not to be trusted, (6) just violated the drug patents of foreign companies, slapped a retroactive withholding tax on foreigners, designated the Singaporean government as spies because they purchased a Thai telecomunications company from the Thai prime minister overthrown 6 months ago in a military coup, called all Philipino boxers cheats because one Thai boxer lost, produced a movie trilogy named King Naresuan which everyone acknowledges distorts history and demonizes the Burmese, have killed, jailed, and extorted foreigners, and the list goes on and on and on. Other countries may be poorer; other countries may be more authoritarian; other countries may be more competitive; but no country is more condescending, more arrogant, or more dangerous to outsider. Simply search the internet for the Bangkok Post or the Nation News and read for a month or so. This is a land of butchers.

Depends on from whose perspective you're looking at...

eg. Malaysians, Thais and Indonesians would say Singaporeans top the list cos they always look down on them esp when they visit their neighbouring countries and start comparing everything; then again, Singaporeans would say that it used to be that Malaysians were the arrogant ones but now the Indonesians have become arrogant cos they have forgotten how the Singaporeans had helped them in so many natural disasters but the Indons now want to ban sand ....etc etc...

Haha Dave Starr, you've got a point there...i couldn't be more agree with you. Found some ppl are very proud the way they 'shoot' back at you whatever question been ask...
Anyway i would think less friendly govt. would be Myanmar.
All the countries you have stated are all quite friendly on the streets unless if you're unlucky you could be robbed in broad daylight in the poorer countries.

I think most Asians are very warm and friendly, most. If I must choose one that is so full of themselves, it will definitely be Singapore, Singapore wins hand-down.

Thai - Excellent people, I believe due to it is a Buddhism country. I have a few good and close Thai friends.
Mal - Try these and see how they see u good or not by saying I am a Singaporean. LOL!... A big bully to SG! Sneaky, double headed as long as there is blood to suck it up! don't care who's the fart u are. lol..but very united people toward own nation people. But when they see u no sg, they kissed u like a king and a queen. lol.. Anyway, they have failed themselves the ah gong's standard of today living lol..damn easy corrupted and dirty by us.

Laos - Where got the farting money to travel so many place leh.
Singapore - Singaporeans - full of shits theoretically with no moral and honour culture. Oh yes, chicken, timid and pretentive. I am also like that too, am I?. lol, dunno why too leh. Have u ever heard we are named as ugly Singaporean from outside world? u know why? becos in Singapore all the piss air kept inside for a long long time until when they got outside, all the pissed air got exploded, lol...Singaporeans are professionally in tekanning own nation people and worse of all, we very show off how we tekan own people at the outside world until those outside pple got hinted me back honestly. whaha... Brunei - a good nation people and people are very well taken of by her governments.

since the coup i would have to say Thailand, the fake smiles on their face as they stab you in the back. The new government is doing everything possible to kept foreigner out and making it worst for those who are here.
