I own a Video Production company and I have currently HDV equipment. I was wondering what equipment i would need to get (hardware, software and cameras (film or DV) ) in order to produce High Quality music Videos for my Clients. I am not looking for cheap cameras, I am looking for what works best for both Film and DV. Also any input in procedures, techniques or tutorials are highly appreciated. This is something that I will be providing to future clients.

I think in your case, I couldn't think of a better camera than the HVX200. It's fairly cheap since your company already can afford some pretty expensive HDV cams, and will offer the biggest bang for the buck you can get. First off, I will tell you that I have never used the HVX200 before, but it is definitely the camera I am getting when I get the money (or its successor). You'll be able to shoot in 24p/30p, but the biggest advantage is that it has variable frame rates. This means you can get smooth slow-motion and fast-motion effects, which are great for music videos. While the P2 cards cost a lot of money and have short recording times, it is capable of shooting native 24p, not 3:2 pulldown, which means that space is saved, and no quality is lost. Also, the short recording times shouldn't be too big of a problem since you are shooting music videos, and the workflow would be similar to a film workflow anyways. And finally, it is DVCPRO HD, which aids in editing, and provides higher picture quality. As for software, I think Adobe Production Studio is the best choice, as it doesn't cost too much, and every program has tight integration. And yes, it has After Effects. I'm assuming you have a pretty good computer already. If you're planning to upgrade, a dual core above 2.4 ghz, 2 GB of RAM, and at least 300GB of hard drive space should be fine. The hardware should get you pro-quality images. Everything else will be up to you. Hope this helps!

OK, an expensive high def camera is the Sony HDRFX7. It costs about $4500, but it uses MiniDV tapes for recording. It still has great 1080i HD quality. Sorry, but that's all I know up to this point.

Go to the public library and get a good book and there are many available on this subject.
