Its not illegal there is nothing wrong with the way you feel, it is not an illness. In days long ago there was a lot of cousins marrying cousins and I havent seen any ongoing problems from it.
If all your families get on then they should be happy for you. The only problem comes if members of the family have fallen out and perhaps wouldnt want you getting together.
You are both entitled to be happy if she shows any interest in you at all go for it and good luck to you both.

Does she feel the same way? It's not illegal to marry your first cousin (in the UK) but some family members might not like it very much. I know 2 cousins that are married to each other, but they didn't know each other as children.

Your family may or may not approve, but they are just your family, take them out of your life every now and then because they may not give best advice, my mom told me marijuana is bad because I'll become tolerant of it and will be searching for harder drugs. the gate-way drug theory is a bunch of bs, she's a cigarrette smoker and told me that its safe and that I should be a smoker, even though cigarrettes also make you tolerant to them, it only takes about a month before that new kind of cigs gets old and doesn't relieve your stress and give you that little buzz anymore.

the only thing to look out for is problems with the children as genetically you are very close, I know of family who were cousins and married and out of three children two had mental problems, this might not happen but is worth remembering.
